So, let’s get into it. I had no.idea. that Baonanas existed until my friends recently put me on. I mean, they love sweets just as much as I do, and RAVED about the banana pudding spot in Jersey City. I was both intrigued, and envious lol. So we had to take care of that.
They brought me to Jersey City while apartment hunting, and we stopped by Baonanas. They were still raving about it all the way up until we approached the storefront. I trust their word, so the salivation was happening for me, rapidly. We walk up to this yellow storefront which, really just does something for the psyche when associating the yellow of the store with the yellow of bananas. Oh, the store owner KNEW what they were doing, haha. When we entered, I loved the decor. Everything about it just created the vibe that I later found out, blends beautifully with the product. There were cute teddy bears everywhere. I call them the bao bears! There were bao bears in clouds, bao bears in hot air balloons, and even chillin’ on a moon-shaped banana. Yeah, the bao bears were super cute and I have no shame in saying that.
Aside from the lovely decor, the staff were EXTREMELY friendly, accommodating, and hospitable. They asked if it were our first time there, if we wanted to sample any flavors, and asked if we wanted to join their points program, which...duh! Lol. I sampled the OG Banana pudding, and that was it. The rest was history. I didn’t need to sample any other flavors. I knew right away that that was THEE flavor. So I ordered a cup with a scoop of the OG, as well as a scoop of the s’mores flavor, with cocoa nibs on top. Yes girl, they also offer toppings for ya puddin’. While I didn’t enjoy the s’mores flavor as much as the OG, it was still delicious! If I never sampled the OG flavor, and just tasted the s’mores flavor instead, I would’ve lost my mind, because it really was good. One of the staff members recommended cocoa nibs as a topping for the s’mores, and I’m glad she did. They really complimented them. With the s’mores flavor, you really do get the graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallow flavor. It was well done. But BABY, when it comes to the OG....they call it OG for a reason, hear?!? In life, with anything regarded as the “OG”, it will likely be difficult to top it, and this OG banana pudding is no exception. It tasted like comfort and love. It tasted like somebody’s grandma was in the back making it by the batch. Talk about comfort food? This banana pudding is comfort in a bowl. It was rich, but not overdone. You got yummy chunks of banana, and crunch from what I believe were vanilla wafers. There was just something special about this pudding...nostalgic even, and I greatly appreciate it.
Baonanas will be taking my money, and I am okay with that. With such a heartfelt product, you can’t really put a price on it. It’s made with love, and after all, love IS...
Read moreAs Jersey City residents, we knew we had to have one of our favorite businesses at our wedding as a dessert surprise for our guests! We hired Baonanas as an added sweet treat for our wedding and it was a huge hit! They came in their adorable Baomobile, set up outside at our venue, and served 6 flavors of their delicious pudding to our guests. There was consistently a line and our guests kept coming back to try more flavors. It was the perfect unique option to serve our guests that wasn’t too heavy after a night of eating and drinking. With a range of flavors (including vegan and gluten free) there was something for everyone to enjoy!
Prior to our wedding, the team did a great job at communicating with us and we even got to schedule a tasting ahead of our big day where we got to sample numerous flavors in order to choose the pudding we would serve our guests. We got the choice of a ton of flavors and landed on some classics and some fun seasonal fall flavors that were perfect for our October celebration.
The team was always polite, always responsive, and extremely easy to work with. The two Service Bears serving at our wedding always had a smile on their face and even saved some for us to take home at the end of the night. We highly recommend Baonanas and the Baomobile if you’re looking for a creative and tasty add on to your...
Read moreTook a drive out to Jersey City to try them out & I’m pretty disappointed. Wanted to try the ube cloud matcha latte and they were sold out. We asked if we could get the pandan chai cloud latte instead, and they were also out. We then asked about buying the mini party tray, and guess what.. it was also sold out. It was only 3pm and they were sold out of majority of their inventory.
The walls by the sink and where they make their drinks were also very dirty. I watched as the girl making the drink, whose hair was down with no hairnet, threw out the tazo carton in the trash with it splattering across the wall and didn’t even bother to clean it.
There was also a tattoo pop-up right by the entrance which seemed pretty unsanitary. As a filipina, I was really excited to try and support a local business but it was just red flags all around. I don’t like being that person, but things like this need to...
