We went on Saturday for the grand opening and everything it was great. So I decided to go back yesterday since the crawfish was $3.99lb, however they limit you 2lbs per person and market price for any 1bs extra after that, which is not advertised until you get to the restaurant. They also changed the way you order but didnโt notify you until you wait in the line, and if itโs to go then you order in line, but if you are dining in then you go seat yourself because they donโt seat you. So after waiting in line to order and being told I had to go to the table to order since I chose to dine in, I picked the only table that was left which happened to be a big table. When I finally sat down the waitress asked if I would move to another table with another African American girl that was at a big table alone. I told her no. So I ordered my food, and as Iโm eating another waiter asked me to move to a smaller table so he can seat the family members of one of the workers at the restaurant who were also Asian. However, there were other tables that came available at the same time and also the other African American lady was still eating alone at a big table. The venue is small but to ask me to move to a smaller in the middle of me eating while my hands are dirty with crawfish juice is ridiculous and very unprofessional, just so the people of the same race of the restaurant didnโt have to wait. The sign says first come first serve so how are you going to move me to a smaller table just to serve others when they can wait just like I did, and the other customers that came to eat. Then the table they moved me to was by the exit door so every time someone exited the cold wind blew on me and my food got cold faster. They also were hovering over me while I was eating asking me was I ready pay when I was I still eating and rushing me. My first instinct was to just leave and take the L but I did like the food which is why I went back second time, but the unprofessionalism was horrible, and to single me to out and move me in the middle of me eating my meal just so their own race so they wouldnโt have to wait is wrong and injustice. I felt discriminated against in every way and I will not be going back there ever again! They just lost a potential...
ย ย ย Read moreReview from someone who drove 35 mins to their Grand Opening (3/15) + again AFTER their grand opening (3/17):
While the grand opening was a bit hectic and crazy, it HAS IMPROVED SINCE THEN with the crawfish flavor remaining consistent, if not better and more flavorful then the first time I went. This is a total plus especially while running specials like 30% off and $3.99lb crawfish where they could easily pump it out to quickly overturn tables.
My table ordered the garlic butter, medium spicy -- they don't skimp on the chunks of garlic and it has a good enough kick where it's still enjoyable! Sides like fries, garlic noodles, charbroiled oysters were also good. We ordered the lemon pepper wings which were nice, but nothing to write home about. Regardless, food came out very hot and quick! Gloves and bibs provided.
During grand opening, people were ordering from the counter and given a number to place on the table for their order to be brought out while to-go orders were ordered from what was also the same line. Turns out there were supposed to be two lines for each, but that wasn't communicated which caused the workers and kitchen to be overwhelmed. Tables were also being saved by parties before ordering which added to the overall frustration of diners.
To alleviate that, it's now "full table service" so they will seat you and take your order while to-go orders are at the counter only now. Service is still a bit lacking as there is not 1 designated server for the table but one will quickly came over whenever we raised our hands. You'll never see one worker just standing around. Another plus -- they were consistent with emptying our crawfish shell buckets.
After speaking about our two experiences at SeaZone to our server, who was still in disbelief at how chaotic the grand opening was, it's clear they do care about giving the best service and food they can.
Grand openings of new businesses deserve a second chance after giving them time to get their footing. Also if you're going to go to take advantage of their crazy good specials, you should expect a wait so show up early when you can...
ย ย ย Read moreWhat a joke. I got there at 12:15 PM -- they open at 12 PM -- and there was already a massive line just to order. Meanwhile, people who hadn't even ordered were grabbing tables like it was some kind of free-for-all. Seriously, what's the point of waiting in line to order if you then have to fight for a table afterward? Makes zero sense.
After finally managing to order, I sat there for over 30 minutes with nothing -- just watching other tables that had been there since opening still waiting for their food. How does that even happen? If you can't handle the rush, maybe stop blowing up social media with ads. It's not that hard to precook crawfish and keep things moving.
And then -- this is the part that blew my mind -- they eventually just stopped taking orders and locked the doors. Are you kidding me?! When I tried to talk to someone about it, the staff just stood there looking completely clueless like they didn't know what was going on.
What's even more frustrating is how all these influencers and social media posts make this place seem like it's amazing -- and it's the complete opposite. It's honestly sad to see all the hype online, only to show up and realize it's a total disaster. If they don't figure this out soon, they won't last. Never...
