I visited the establishment on 3/4/24 around 10:00 am on Veterans Memorial. I had the strawberry waffles , fried chicken wings, grits and eggs. I’m giving 3 stars due to the management not staff!
Pros
The chicken was fresh made to order, seasoned very well and crispy. ( I should of ordered 3 instead of 2)
The grits were good and buttered.
The eggs were fresh and ok. I’m not a big fan of scrambled eggs but I’m pregnant. So, I can’t have over easy. So, a better judge is needed.
The strawberry waffles were delicious and soft in the middle but slightly crisp. Wish I could try them all. lol
The staff were very friendly, they welcome you. They remembered each customers name. Once you get your order they check on you and even offer to condiments to get yourself. The chef was nice as well.
Cons There is a 20 minute wait on chicken. It’s made to order. However, I prefer to wait and have mine fresh. I don’t want heated lamp fried chicken.
The manager Shay however decided she was hungry and wanted chicken and decided to go down the side walk and get her some wing stop and ate it in front of the store window where all the customers to see. ( Terrible marketing) ( embarrassing) in addition she had on fluffy house shoes walking through the establishment (unprofessional)
Also, there became a rush hour and she was not friendly with her staff in front of customers nor did she even try to help them.
My 73 mother who has worked in the food industry for years spoke to her in private and gave her polite constructive criticism in which she respectfully received . She did state that she only been a manager for 4 months and her feet was hurting . So, perhaps there is room for improvement and comfortable shoes. I hope she uses the advice and be kind to her staff. The customers liked their enthusiasm, don’t create a hostile environment and snatch away their happiness to brand and serve.
I will be coming back for the Cajun shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles! Btw the...
Read moreMy recent visit to Waffles and Cream was an unmitigated disaster from start to finish. I'm not one to leave negative reviews often, but this experience warrants a serious warning to future patrons.
Let's start with the food, which was, to put it mildly, absolutely disgusting. The wings were a complete letdown – flabby and moist, far from the crispy exterior one expects, and disturbingly, they weren't even cooked all the way through. To add insult to injury, there was absolutely no seasoning on them, leaving them utterly bland. The chicken tenders were equally disappointing; small, shriveled, and fried to an unappetizing crisp, rendering them dry and flavorless. As for the namesake waffles, they were bland and completely lacked any 'it' factor or distinguishing taste.
The dismal food was unfortunately matched by the equally poor service. Upon entering, neither my family nor I were acknowledged. There was no "good afternoon" or any semblance of a welcome from the staff. A female employee was seated at a back table, seemingly occupied with paperwork, but never once looked up or acknowledged our presence. The cashier seemed entirely disinterested, rushing us through our order and displaying a clear lack of knowledge about the menu. To top it off, they were out of several basic items, including shrimp, fish, hash browns, and even ice. The service was painstakingly slow, further exacerbating the frustrating experience. Even the facilities were a letdown, with the restroom lights not working, making for an unpleasant and inconvenient visit.
Considering the truly awful food, the inattentive and unhelpful staff, and the general disarray of the establishment, I can confidently say that I will never be returning to Waffles and Cream. Save your time and money and find somewhere that actually cares about its customers and the quality of...
Read moreMuch like some of the other more recent negative posts, my experience was similar. I came in and there was one other party waiting. The rest of the restaurant was empty. Noone addressed me as I walked up to the counter, noone said hello, and two employees were standing far beyond the front desk(closer to the fryer) with hands on hips debating about something, backs turned to the front entrance. Sadly I realized that I would need to be more assertive at this place, and walked towards their direction and said "good morning," one employee immediately turned around and snapped " you will need to wait as I am by myself here today." The tables were all uncleaned, the chairs were sticky and unclean as well. All surfaces were not clean and had visible food leftover from the previous day or earlier meals. The restaurant was practically vacant, so being too busy to simply clean a little is not too tough... As I waited, more and more people began pouring in, and it was apparent that the 2 person staff were getting more unhappy. I feel bad for them honestly because their leadership has failed them in their training and presentation. The food was good and as I left one of the employees said "thank you for waiting" which was very refreshing and appreciated, but the environment really hurts the rest of the experience. I ended up waiting for well over 30 minutes. Kind smiles, a clean lobby, and acknowledging customers goes a long way, even if you are overwhelmed. It can keep the spirits up of the customers who have been either waiting for a while or feel ignored. The staff has good intentions but need more support and more thorough training. Hopefully upper management steps in, or the standard of this neat concept will be diminished of wiped...
