Decided to try Olomi's a try and it did not disappoint. The place was clean (including the bathrooms). We ended up ordering the chicken karahi, chicken chapli kabob (were out of the beef), beef koobideh, and naan. The portion sizes were large. There were 4 people in our party and we had 2 boxes of left overs.
The chicken karahi was different than other karahi's I've had. It was swimming in oil. The karahi had a nice tartness to it. For my Desi folks it was chatpata.
The koobideh was a good option for my kid who wasn't in the mood for spicy food. The kabob was flavorful and moist. Not over cooked and dry.
The chicken chapli kabob were really good too. They were large and thin like authentic chapli kabob. Not a whole bunch of spices, but there was heat.
The naan are on the small size, but they were really good. They're not buttered or anything, but were light and airy. It doesn't feel like a huge ball of dough sitting in your stomach like other places. You can easily eat several of these of you aren't paying attention for my dieting friends.
Overall, highly recommended. Try this little gem of a place out. You won't be disappointed. We'll try to again soon to see if they're able to maintain consistency and quality. I hope so... fingers crossed.
You can easily drive by this place if you're not looking for it. They're right next to a Self...

Owned and run by the incredibly kind Sami Olomi, an Afghan chef with heart and talent, this place brings bold flavors and genuine hospitality together like few others.
Sami whips up everything from perfectly grilled kebabs to juicy burgers and a variety of authentic Afghan dishes that taste like home — even if you didn’t grow up eating this cuisine, it feels like you did. The meats are tender and seasoned to perfection, the rice is aromatic, and the sauces are spot-on. Whether you’re craving something heavy or light, savory or spicy, there’s something here that’ll hit the spot.
Despite being lowkey and not too visible from the street, the ambiance inside is surprisingly cozy and welcoming. You can tell he cares about not just the food but the whole experience.
I actually told Sami he needs to get an Instagram and a website going — the world deserves to know about this spot. If he had even half the online presence as he does flavor in his food, he’d have lines out the door.
Don’t sleep on this place. Whether you’re passing through or local, Olomi’s is worth the detour. Support this man — you...
Read moreI recently dined at an Afghan restaurant and was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the food and the rich flavors. We started with the Afghani beef dumplings, known as Beef Mamtu. These were absolutely delicious, served with two different sauces and a side of chickpeas. The traditional preparation includes split chickpeas and cilantro on top with a layer of yogurt at the bottom, but I requested mine served separately, and it was perfect.
For the main course, we tried the Chicken Chapli Kabab with pulao rice and the Lamb Shank Kabuli Pulao. The Chicken Chapli Kabab was flavorful and paired beautifully with the rice. The star of the meal, however, was the Lamb Shank Kabuli Pulao. The lamb was incredibly tender, practically melting in your mouth, and the dish as a whole was outstanding. We also had naan bread, which was amazing, topped with black sesame seeds that added a delightful crunch.
The entire meal, which offered a generous portion of authentic Afghan cuisine, came to $51—a great value for the quality and experience. Overall, a fantastic dining experience that I highly recommend for anyone looking to explore authentic...
