We have been to Aubreys many times and know many of the servers. We have never had a bad experience until tonight. The server was new and didn't know the menu well. Our appetizer was delivered and we had no silverware. She brought bread but we had no knife for the butter and still no napkins. She would pop in and back out delivering drink refills before we had an opportunity to ask her for the needed items. She took our order and asked what two sides we wanted. Our meals were delivered a little staggered. The sides that we had were awful. Not just ok, but awful. We have ordered these in the past and know what they should taste like. The server never came back until well into our meal to check. At that time we told her about the bad sides. She then disappeared for quite sometime. When she did come back she said that the sides would be taken off the bill and asked if we wanted dessert, she then disappeared again we assumed to get our bill.. My husband couldn't wait any longer and had to leave. I had to get up and ask a couple of other servers to please get my waitresses attention to bring our bill. She was right there close by dancing around and had no awareness that she had overlooked us repeatedly. When I got the bill two of the sides were added and then removed. I then had to ask her why we were being charged and then credited for two extra sides. She then told us that our meals only came with one side in spite of asking us what two sides we wanted when taking our order. I finally just asked to speak to a manager. He offered to take off the sides that we didnt eat. Really? I was really surprised that he didn't consider our whole experience, He did the very least that he could and did not compensate us at all for the inconvenience, the fact that only the meat was eaten on one meal, not to mention the extra thirty minutes waiting to be taken care of. Such a disappointment all the way around. Btw, our bill after the minimal adjustment for the sides that we didn't eat was...
Read moreOur first visit to an Aubrey's was Sunday at the location in Morristown. We enjoyed it so much that we went to the Johnson City location on Wednesday thinking we would have the same great experience. In Morristown, I ordered the salmon tacos. The waitress offered an option to my husband of chicken tacos (not on the menu). She also explained that if he chose chicken instead of salmon he would get 3 tacos instead of two. The service and food were both amazing in Morristown. Fast forward to the JC location...upon arrival we asked to be seated outside. There were several other guests on the patio and still 2-3 empty tables. The hostess said we could not sit outside as the manager had said no more guests on the patio. Made no sense...but ok. We waited about 15 minutes for a table inside. Our waitress came about 5 minutes later, took our drink order and then we waited about another 10 minutes just for drinks. She dropped those off and we waited another 7 minutes to order. We ordered the same exact food...salmon tacos for me, chicken for him. The waitress was unaware of the chicken option at this location. We asked for bread with extra butter while we waited. In Morristown, two piping hot loaves were brought to the table from the start. In JC, after waiting again, a cold single loaf with no extra butter was served. I asked again for the extra butter but by the time we received it the cold bread was gone because we were starving. Upon receiving our meal, we could quickly see the difference from the meal 3 days prior in Morristown. (I have pics of both) First, only two chicken tacos instead of 3. The chicken here was not seasoned in any way as it was in Morristown. The tacos were soggy and watery...perhaps the pico wasn't drained properly...and the overall freshness was a huge step down from our first experience. The difference between service and food quality was night and day at these two locations. I don't think JC will get our...
Read moreAs visitors of Tennessee, we were always on the lookout for a good restaurant. We really lucked out when we found Aubrey's Restaurant. The atmosphere was very relaxing and clean. We had a wonderful waitress named Ivy. Not only was she extremely attentive, but she was very kind and well mannered. One thing that struck me surprised was how quickly she refilled my drink. I would be just finishing the last of my lemonade, put the glass on the table, and next thing I knew, she walked by, and I had another full glass. She did this three times. I've never been more shocked to see a waitress so on top of it.
When it came time to order, I got the sirloin steak. It came in a good timely manner as well. After tasting a bit, it did seem a bit over done considering what I requested it be, but I didn't want to be one to complain. When Ivy came by to ask how everything was, my mother had kindly explained that the steak seemed to be a bit overcooked, to which Ivy agreed and took it back to see what she could do. No questions asked.
Seconds later, the manager came out to ask about the meal. She was very kind and understanding. She assured us they had already taken it off the bill and the chef was cooking a brand new one. We didn't even expect them to do that. About 7 minutes later, the manager brings a whole new meal to me, and asks me to taste it to make sure I was content. I told her it tasted perfect, and she told me there bringing me some more hot fries as well.
If that wasn't enough kindness and good mannerism towards customers, I don't know what is. This had to be one of the best experiences I've had at a restaurant, in terms of staff, quality of food, atmosphere, and more.
I hope this review finds its way to Ivy (Our Waitress) and the manager there. I hope you know how appreciative we are to receive such great service.
If we ever make it back to Tennessee one day, I'll be sure to stop by and give them...
