We had never dined at Aubrey’s before, and if it weren’t for a gift card we won at a luncheon hosted by our realtors earlier this year, we might have completely overlooked this hidden gem. After a morning hike, we took some time to freshen up and wrap up a few work tasks before heading over to the Aubrey’s in Johnson City. Though it was well past the lunch rush, we were warmly welcomed and promptly seated. The restaurant’s interior is inviting and stylish, with a dark, neutral color palette accented by vibrant pops of yellow. Large chalkboard murals and thoughtful décor contribute to a clean, modern, yet cozy atmosphere. Our server, Sarah R., greeted us with a cheerful smile, took our orders efficiently, and offered to bring fresh bread while we waited. Yes, please! My husband ordered the Old Fashioned Patty Melt — a mouthwatering combo of juicy burger patty, Swiss cheese, grilled onions, and crispy bacon on Texas toast. His fries were “double-dunked” for that perfect extra crunch, just as he likes them — nearly burnt, but not quite. I chose the Thunder Road Burger, topped with crispy tobacco onions, jalapeños, and just the right amount of their signature pimento cheese spread. It was melt-in-your-mouth delicious! I paired it with a fully loaded baked potato — generously topped and included at no extra charge — and it exceeded expectations. Sarah struck the perfect balance of attentiveness, checking in just enough without ever hovering. She even brought my husband two refills on his Dr. Pepper without being asked. All I can say is this: if you haven’t tried Aubrey’s yet, consider yourself warned — it may just win you over on your first visit like it did us. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Aubrey’s, and I’m excited to share my experience. The lively atmosphere of the diner set the stage for a great meal. I started with the Caesar side salad, which was fantastic. It was clear they make an in-house Caesar dressing, adding a fresh and flavorful touch to the dish. It reminded me of a mixture of caesar dressing and Italian vinaigrette but you still tasted the tranditional caeser dressing taste so that was a refreshing change to the regular caesar salad. For the main course, I had the Rattlesnake Pasta. While it was on the milder side in terms of spiciness compared to other places that I've had this dish at in other states; it was undoubtedly the best-tasting Rattlesnake Pasta I’ve ever had. The chicken was thinly sliced, ensuring each bite was perfectly balanced with pasta, chicken, and sauce. I was a bit sad when I ate it all as I was definitely craving more afterwards but was full so I was content. Our server, Maggie, truly made the experience memorable. Despite learning a new system that was launched that night, she maintained a positive attitude, was incredibly friendly, and offered great recommendations. Her dedication to providing excellent service was evident and she made the my day a lot better after having a stressful day at work so I'm happy my day is ending on a positive note. Overall, Aubrey’s is a must-visit for its delicious food and outstanding service. There was lots of parking available still even though the restuarant looked to be almost completedly full so I didn't have to go hunting for parking. I’ll definitely be returning before my week trip is done here and have the pasta again.

We have seen this restaurant while driving by and never thought to try it till last night. I am happy we decided to try it! Erin was our server, she was really really nice! Even made us custom off menu drinks like Arnold Palmers and Sherry Temples. I had the fish and chip with Parmesan spinach for my side and my husband had the rattlesnake pasta. The fish and chips came with this delightful lemon caper sauce instead of traditional tartar sauce and honestly I’m here for it. It was very delicious! The Parmesan spinach is like spinach dip so I used that with the chips! My husband’s pasta was delicious too! I’ve never seen anyone julienne jalapeño peppers before, but they fit nicely into the pasta. It was really delicious as well, the flavors went really well together. My only complaint is that we didn’t try this place sooner! Do yourself a flavor and eat here!

We have been to Aubreys many times and know many of the servers. We have never had a bad experience until tonight. The server was new and didn't know the menu well. Our appetizer was delivered and we had no silverware. She brought bread but we had no knife for the butter and still no napkins. She would pop in and back out delivering drink refills before we had an opportunity to ask her for the needed items. She took our order and asked what two sides we wanted. Our meals were delivered a little staggered. The sides that we had were awful. Not just ok, but awful. We have ordered these in the past and know what they should taste like. The server never came back until well into our meal to check. At that time we told her about the bad sides. She then disappeared for quite sometime. When she did come back she said that the sides would be taken off the bill and asked if we wanted dessert, she then disappeared again we assumed to get our bill.. My husband couldn't wait any longer and had to leave. I had to get up and ask a couple of other servers to please get my waitresses attention to bring our bill. She was right there close by dancing around and had no awareness that she had overlooked us repeatedly. When I got the bill two of the sides were added and then removed. I then had to ask her why we were being charged and then credited for two extra sides. She then told us that our meals only came with one side in spite of asking us what two sides we wanted when taking our order. I finally just asked to speak to a manager. He offered to take off the sides that we didnt eat. Really? I was really surprised that he didn't consider our whole experience, He did the very least that he could and did not compensate us at all for the inconvenience, the fact that only the meat was eaten on one meal, not to mention the extra thirty minutes waiting to be taken care of. Such a disappointment all the way around. Btw, our bill after the minimal adjustment for the sides that we didn't eat was...

Our first visit to an Aubrey's was Sunday at the location in Morristown. We enjoyed it so much that we went to the Johnson City location on Wednesday thinking we would have the same great experience. In Morristown, I ordered the salmon tacos. The waitress offered an option to my husband of chicken tacos (not on the menu). She also explained that if he chose chicken instead of salmon he would get 3 tacos instead of two. The service and food were both amazing in Morristown. Fast forward to the JC location...upon arrival we asked to be seated outside. There were several other guests on the patio and still 2-3 empty tables. The hostess said we could not sit outside as the manager had said no more guests on the patio. Made no sense...but ok. We waited about 15 minutes for a table inside. Our waitress came about 5 minutes later, took our drink order and then we waited about another 10 minutes just for drinks. She dropped those off and we waited another 7 minutes to order. We ordered the same exact food...salmon tacos for me, chicken for him. The waitress was unaware of the chicken option at this location. We asked for bread with extra butter while we waited. In Morristown, two piping hot loaves were brought to the table from the start. In JC, after waiting again, a cold single loaf with no extra butter was served. I asked again for the extra butter but by the time we received it the cold bread was gone because we were starving. Upon receiving our meal, we could quickly see the difference from the meal 3 days prior in Morristown. (I have pics of both) First, only two chicken tacos instead of 3. The chicken here was not seasoned in any way as it was in Morristown. The tacos were soggy and watery...perhaps the pico wasn't drained properly...and the overall freshness was a huge step down from our first experience. The difference between service and food quality was night and day at these two locations. I don't think JC will get our...

As visitors of Tennessee, we were always on the lookout for a good restaurant. We really lucked out when we found Aubrey's Restaurant. The atmosphere was very relaxing and clean. We had a wonderful waitress named Ivy. Not only was she extremely attentive, but she was very kind and well mannered. One thing that struck me surprised was how quickly she refilled my drink. I would be just finishing the last of my lemonade, put the glass on the table, and next thing I knew, she walked by, and I had another full glass. She did this three times. I've never been more shocked to see a waitress so on top of it.

When it came time to order, I got the sirloin steak. It came in a good timely manner as well. After tasting a bit, it did seem a bit over done considering what I requested it be, but I didn't want to be one to complain. When Ivy came by to ask how everything was, my mother had kindly explained that the steak seemed to be a bit overcooked, to which Ivy agreed and took it back to see what she could do. No questions asked.

Seconds later, the manager came out to ask about the meal. She was very kind and understanding. She assured us they had already taken it off the bill and the chef was cooking a brand new one. We didn't even expect them to do that. About 7 minutes later, the manager brings a whole new meal to me, and asks me to taste it to make sure I was content. I told her it tasted perfect, and she told me there bringing me some more hot fries as well.

If that wasn't enough kindness and good mannerism towards customers, I don't know what is. This had to be one of the best experiences I've had at a restaurant, in terms of staff, quality of food, atmosphere, and more.

I hope this review finds its way to Ivy (Our Waitress) and the manager there. I hope you know how appreciative we are to receive such great service.

If we ever make it back to Tennessee one day, I'll be sure to stop by and give them...
