Disappointed.
Make sure you check your order before leaving their premises. I was so excited to try Greeko’s, I wish I hadn’t. We showed up for dinner at 8pm expecting to be able to sit and enjoy the food hot and ready since they closed at 9pm. We were met with chairs on top of tables and employees finishing up closing duties. First red flag.
We then go to the counter to order our food to go because they were obviously ready to leave for the evening. The woman ringing us up was very sweet, I have zero issues with her. She assisted us with choosing 8 different desserts. It was my first time so I wanted to give it a running chance to be good, even though the restaurant was basically closed when we got there.
We decided to sit at the one Hightop table that had chairs down still and enjoy some of the desserts while we wait for the rest of the food. We ordered 3 appetizers and 2 lamb gyros with fries. The total for all the desserts and food was right at $80 with the tip as well. It took about 10-15 minutes for the food to be done. Quick! You may be thinking, it was only quick because we continued to hear the alarm of a microwave going off. Second red flag.
Having heard the beeps to the microwave over and over I became quickly aware that none of this food was going to be freshly made. Still, I was excited and trying to be optimistic about it. We get our food and leave.
My house is only 7 minutes from the restaurant, in that time the food went cold. All of it, hence why we wanted to eat at the restaurant. Either way, we try and enjoy the food only to find out the appetizers we ordered didn’t have any pita to actually eat them with. Third red flag.
I call the restaurant and explain that we just spent almost $100 on food and desserts and now we have appetizers that we can’t even eat. (I don’t keep pita on hand at the house) The women who rang us up was also on the phone and had no idea what to do. She kept saying, “I’m sorry I don't know what to do, I don't know how we give refunds” I ask to speak to a manager, she says there isn't a manager there to speak with. Then I tell her a plan of action because she still had no idea what to do “Please take my phone number and information with my receipt number and leave it on your managers desk for them to see tomorrow morning at open.” She does and our conversation ended. Not 5 minutes later I get a call back from someone else there who is now claiming to be the “manager.” I thought there wants a manager there to assist me at my first call?! Red flag number 4!
I explain to this manager exactly what I told the previous girl and that I would simply like a refund on those two appetizers that I literally could not eat because half the order was missing. I was met with her being VERY combative about the situation telling me there wasn’t anything she could do and the only kind of refund she could give was a partial refund since I left with half the appetizer. I was floored, so I say back to the manager “you are expecting me to still pay a partial amount on food that I have no way of eating? Because the pita was missing? It’s going to be thrown away because I literally can’t eat it” she said yes I’m sorry that’s all we can do. Then pivots her argument to throwing the owner of the restaurant under the bus. Saying he’s the one who came up with the partial refunds for situations like this and that she is so sorry but there’s nothing more she can do because of the partial refunds the owner put in place. I was again floored by what I was hearing. In the end, zero refund has hit my account. Zero effort to fix the situation was made. Very disappointed with the lack of customer service and care with this being such a new restaurant in the area. I will update this review if I ever see a refund or hear back from them. From excitement to disappointment very quickly. I say take your...
Read moreI was very excited about having a new Greek restaurant to try out in Johnson City. I ordered a gyro and fries online and was a little shocked that at the price of $16. Being my first time eating here I gave it a shot anyways. My order was ready when I arrived, but that is when my experience went south quick. I ask if the tzatziki sauce was inside my bag, as they had tied it closed. I was told yes, but bearing on the side of caution I checked myself and found none. When I asked another waitress for some, I was told it would cost me another $1.50. I explained that my order was missing the sauce, which comes with it, and I would like some. I was asked to open my box and spread my food open, at the main counter mined you, to prove that my sandwich didn't have any sauce. It was CLEARLY dry and missing sauce. She notice a few white specks at the very bottom of my wrapper and told me the some of the chefs put it on the bottom of the sandwich. She then told me I could have the miss sauce, but for an additional $1.50. My wife and I eat out several times a week at multiple restaurant in Johnson City and have never had to open and display our food to prove that it wasn't satisfactory. Beyond the horrible customer service, the gyro wasn't the best and the fries had zero salt on them. Several other reviews have also complained about the restaurant being stingy with condiments and I feel like this will certainly bite them in the rear. I know for sure that I will never return for an expensive lack luster meal at this location and would rather drive a little further away to eat at a different Greek restaurant that cares for...
Read moreI've seen a number of stellar reviews for Greeko's recently opened location here in Johnson City, so I wanted to give them a try. Since we rarely eat out, when I do, its a splurge, so my expectations are perhaps higher than they should be. I'd been craving a robust Greek salad since moving here over a year ago, and bc we were in between a few things, we decided on takeout. The gal who greeted me at the register was very nice. The restaurant is clean, open and very well laid out with a lovely showcase of Greek pastries to tempt even the most disciplined of dieters. For Greek Salads, you do have an option for Iceburg or Spinach as the base, which is nice if you want to amp up the nutrition - I had them put in half of each and added some gyro meat on top. I was asked what type of dressing and, of course, I said "Greek". The wait time was negligible, and within minutes, I was out the door. For reference, I've put a fork next to the order I received. For $13, I guess I expected a larger portion of salad. The serving of gyro meat was perfect, though - bursting with the blissful Mediterranean flavors I'd been craving. The amount of dressing was a bit light - even for such a small salad - so I ended up supplementing with my own Balsamic Vinegrette. I was surprised they didn't include any pita bread (I did ask before leaving). My guess is eating in is a much better way to go, and possibly a gyro or souvlaki wrap may be a more robust option. I will give this another try again in the future as I do like to support local and family owned businesses when possible. I will update this review after...
