I’ve been to this location twice. My first visit I got a burrito and it was sizable and I enjoyed my experience overall. This is why I didn’t give a 1 star review.
I recently visited with a friend again on a Friday night. Before we even walked through the door you could tell one of the employee's cleaning up was having a fit about customers coming in. We didn't realize it was 20 minutes before close (not trying to be a hassle as it was nearing close, we quickly ordered to-go so we wouldn’t be in the way). The same employee then decided to make my order as small as possible. I just about laughed when he put a third of a cup of rice into the styrofoam container, until I realized he wasn't joking. About a 25% of all ingredients were put away before we got there. When I requested the ingredients I could that were still available, I got the smallest portion he could manage to add in. I decided not to fight the frustrating situation and just pay and leave. I ended up tossing what I ordered when I got home. This was partly out of annoyance from the experience, and partly because my 2 lean cuisines at home for $4 were more appetizing.
Tl;dr If you want immature employees, styrofoam containers, and less selection then be sure to visit Bandit Burrito. If you want to avoid the terrible service and dried up ingredients, save your time and head to Chipotle or Pancheros. I know I will next time.
You can see what $7 got me in...
Read moreOne of our favorite burrito joints in the country! The food is always fresh and flavorful. Cheddar jalapeno wrap is the stuff. All the meats are great with no lack of portion. Try the chicken mole! Cheese and beans are pretty standard. Roasted veggies are a nice change. But when we get to the end.....oh yeah. Here is where the magic happens! The lime cilantro garlic sour cream is soooo good. It complements everything. Pico, salsas, fresh cilantro, more fresh lime juice and some sweet heat from the mango/peach salsa. Flavor explosions! Then if your still hungery, they have monster rice crispy treats. Tired of normal burrito? Go on weds where they will fry your burrito into...... A chimichanga!!! Oh new level of awesomeness. You will not be disappointed. Quesadilla tip #4 Ask them to put pico de gallo inside with the sour cream before they melt it....
Read moreI have been eating at Bandit Burrito since the early days when the original owner/chef Robert opened it. Since then, the new owners have done a remarkable job of keeping the spirit alive. I am so thankful for the care they have taken to capture the same consistent excellence.
If you want the best burrito in the Des Moines metro, come try the chicken mole (don't be scared, it's the best protein on the menu). I typically get double meat and do chicken mole + steak (pictured).
And if you like to add a little spice, their homemade salsa is incredible. They make every burrito to-order per your exact specs. Everything is fresh daily and is served up by people who care. Absolutely highest of...
