Never order a Poor Boy here. Management believes that a Poor Boy should come with a couple OF 4 inch pieces of onion that are not fully cooked or tender. Cheese is extra and if you order the Poor Boy with everything, management believes it should have enough catsup and mustard on it to drown a cow. I ruined my clothes with the catsup and mustard that was on the sandwich before I realized it was there. You never put catsup and mustard on a Poor Boy. Everything is Garlic Bread, Grilled Onions, Cheese and the Meat --- not CATSUP AND MUSTARD, IT RUINS THE SANDWICH. The best Poor Boy is at Marishka's on Theodore Street
Babe's has just okay food. Those that are complaining about having to purchase a side or drink with the Jumbo Dog are forgetting that it is still less expensive than purchasing the full price dog, with a side or drink. I do not know how they can sell the dogs that cheap. Like everything else in this world, they had to raise the price from 99 cents each with a max of 5 to $1.50 each with a max of 10. Big deal on having to get a drink or side, you are still making out like a bandit. The Jumbo Dog's at Babe's are as good as if not better than a major chain. They make their own Italian Beef and other meats. I love the salads, check out the picture I posted. I could only eat half yesterday, had to finish it today. You need to stop by and have a bite to eat when in the area, you willl not be disappointed. DO NOT ORDER THE POOR BOY, YOU WILL BE...
Read moreI got the chicken and dumpling soup, I thought it was pretty good! It had a good ratio of chicken, dumplings & veggies. I also ordered a buffalo chicken wrap, which was OK but a little too messy for me. I probably would not order that again, but it did taste good… the chicken was breaded and a good size, I would’ve preferred it with a blue cheese crumble instead of blue cheese dressing, which I think would’ve made it less messy because it started to fall apart towards the end. They had so many wrap and sandwich options, I will definitely be trying some other ones. The real star of the show were the french fries, which were so crispy, I would come back just for those for those alone!! They also 12 different options for fountain drinks and definitely got some bonus points for having Dr Pepper.
I went at around 1:30 on a weekday and most of the tables were filled, service was quick and easy. Overall, it was a good experience, and I would definitely come back to try something new along with some fries,...
Read moreYou wouldn't think much of this place driving up to it. Visually it looks like an old repurposed fast food joint. Don't let looks fool you. This local place has food that is out of this world. I got the jumbo chili cheese dog with fries. Tye wife had a kids Cheeseburger meal and my daughter had the nugget meal. The fries are hometown fries and we dipped them in cheddar cheese, which does not taste like the thick cheese you may get at a ball park. This was thinner and pretty darn tasty. When I saw the hot dog I thought, "This is NOT jumbo!" But when I unwrapped it and attempted to take a bit I knew why it was called jumbo! The quality and taste was awesome! When we gravel we like to eat at local places and when we visit family up here again...we will be back. Drop by, you...
