The Metro Bar & Grill is a contemporary, lively combination of a neighborhood haven and a culinary delight. Uniting the casual with the extraordinary, this establishment presents an inviting setting that matches its compelling food offerings. Upon entering, the restaurant invites guests into its world with the open-kitchen layout. Witnessing the magic unfold firsthand, watching as the chefs skillfully prepare each dish, is a captivating experience that adds an interactive dimension to your dining. The open kitchen demonstrates a transparency and confidence in their craft, enhancing the ambiance and encouraging a deeper appreciation for the menu. A well-stocked bar, brimming with an extensive range of spirits, beers, and wines, is an eye-catching feature that immediately beckons to the discerning drink enthusiast. The bar staff are well-versed in their trade, ready to pour your favorite beverage or suggest a new concoction from their creative cocktail menu. The libations at Metro Bar & Grill are thoughtfully curated to complement the delectable dishes, rounding out a truly comprehensive dining experience. It's also a great place to watch the game and near the bar seating area, you will immediately notice the five state-of-the-art video gaming machines, adding a layer of exciting entertainment to the welcoming environment. Whether you're out for a game with friends, a gaming aficionado or an enthusiastic beginner, these machines are a vibrant addition to the venue, encouraging patrons to mingle, play, and stay awhile. Last, but certainly not least, the outdoor seating on the front patio offers a breath of fresh air - quite literally. Whether you're looking to enjoy a breezy summer evening or simply want a change of scenery, the patio presents a relaxing escape. Comfortable furniture and thoughtful landscaping make it an ideal spot to savor your meal, converse, and soak in the gentle hum of Joliet life passing by. From its crowd-pleasing Saganaki appetizer to the elevated main courses like the Fish N’ Chippy Street Tacos and the Twisted Turkey, Metro Bar & Grill crafts a culinary journey that delights and surprises. Couple this with the bustling gaming machines, the transparency of the open kitchen, the well-rounded bar offerings, and the serene outdoor seating, and you have a local gem that is both a pleasure to your palate and a joy to your senses. Whether you're a local or a visitor, a foodie or a gamer, Metro Bar & Grill extends an inviting hand, promising an experience of comfort, community, and culinary excellence.

This is a nice location with great tasting food and good people. Unfortunately, they seem to have fallen victim to their own success. They have a table set up right by the bathroom behind the bar in a very small space (the one we were offered first) and another one in the aisle right by the bar where it definitely does not belong (the one we were told that was the only other table available at the time). Then there is the poor lady at the bar who is taking care of everyone at the bar and all the tables that are next to the bar, including ours. I felt guilty trying to get her attention to try to get the to go boxes and the bill after sitting idle for 10 minutes or so. Once again, no complaints about the food which was very good. Specifically we had Brisket Tacos and Cheesesteak Panini. Both were excellent and tasty. The reason for my thorough review above is mostly for the management of this place to hopefully pay more attention to the details. It’s better to be at capacity and turn people away than to put them right by the bathroom or in the aisle. Also, please get some help for your bartender. We went on a Thursday night, and it was still so busy that she and the others seem to just be running around trying to keep up.

We tried Metro Grill & Bar this week after seeing some promising reviews. Service was absolutely horrible, our waitress was rude, unpleasant and about as personable as a rock. We did the Ruben rolls for an appetizer and they were actually pretty good, nice mixture. The main (Chimichurri Chicken) was very bland and unflavoured, way too many green beans with it. The chicken was dense and hard, very disappointing. The menu had so many things on it, was somewhat overwhelming and leads to the question of freshness of the menu items. We also tried the Tuscan Panini and fries, it was so bad we couldn’t even eat it. The sandwich was very unpleasant and the fries seemed like they were reheated or left out for far too long. We actually sent it back and they were good to take it off the bill. However the waitress seemed to take this personally and was even more rude after this. We will definitely not be coming back.

I’ve been here twice in the last 2 weeks. The 1st time I was by myself & seated in a booth by the slot machines. The lighting wasn’t very bright but it didn’t bother me. I ordered a Strip Steak cooked Medium (half pink) & a chicken salad “To Go” with strawberries, No vinaigrette No walnut dressing , no blue cheese & no pecans. What I received was a strip steak that was cooked almost well done, but with the inadequate lighting & lack of time on my end I decided to let it go. When I got home I noticed the salad had nuts on it. Ok, everyone has a bad day once in awhile. My wife & I went back there tonight but wanted to be seated next to a window with ample natural light. I ordered the same Skirt steak & salad. The salad was correctly prepared this time. But the skirt steak was again almost well done, the waiter agreed & took it back to be remade. 1 minute later he came back to insist that it was cooked properly & I needed to look at it again but in the kitchen with the artificial lighting they had. I said I’m sitting next to a window with plenty of natural light & you agreed that my SS was not cooked to my liking. (Medium) He became irritated at me & asked me if I would mind having it cooked to Medium Rare? I said that would be fine. He proceeded to return to the kitchen to tell the cook in a loud & sarcastic tone.....Now He Wants It Medium Rare! Ya Know What, Cook It Rare & If He Doesn’t Like It We Can Put It Back On!” Very unprofessional & inappropriate service, I would give 0 stars if I could but since that option wasn’t available they are lucky to get 1 Star from me.

Signed,...

After hearing rave reviews of Metro Bar & Grill from many friends and business associates, the hubs and I stopped in on a whim after Christmas shopping all day & sans kids, to have appetizers and a drink before heading home. Parking lot was crowded and there was a wait - all good signs. We were able to be seated at the bar, where they serve their full menu. A woman doubled checked w/ us to make sure we didn't want to put out name on the wait list for a table and to confirm that we were comfortable eating at the bar. I appreciated that gesture! The bar stools were comfortable. Strange to say? Not when you and your partner are recovering from hip and leg injuries 😉. Carol, our bartender/server shared the drink & food specials for the evening (beer, Cosmos for $4 and the Monster Meatball for $5), as well as the soup de jour. We opted for the drinks specials (delish Carol!). We split the Honey Buffalo Shrimp appetizer, which was a large serving for 2 ppl and was excellent! We both ordered the meatball special for dinner. Delicious and is a very generous serving w/ garlic toast points (4 each). We each only are half and brought the rest home. We are looking forward to finishing today as we wrap gifts. Yep - not sharing w/ the kids. We will definitely be back, alone and with the kids as there are plenty of options for their liking as well. It's close proximity to the Joliet mall made it convenient. I hesitated writing this review because I covet a great restaurant but I'd be doing you all a big disservice if you, like us, have not...
