DESO Chocolate — Restaurant in Jonesboro

While the food is delicious, the service is absolutely abysmal. We left without getting any of our food this time. Apparently, the female “manager” on shift can’t be bothered to understand how to treat customers or actually run a business. When my friend and I walked in, there was only 1 person ahead of us waiting to order. We waited for 8 minutes before being greeted and asked for our order. We placed our order, stressing to the cashier that my friend did NOT want the crumble topping as she is ALLERGIC to it’s ingredients. As we stood in the lobby for 25 minutes, we witnessed 4 other individuals walk in and ask for their to-go orders or placed orders, which hadn’t been made as 2 of them were placed AFTER OURS HAD BEEN. The 2 girls (one of which was supposedly a manager), behind the counter were indescribably slow at filling any order, but would stop working on one order in order to fulfill the to-go order in front of them. When they finally got around to making our order, my friend noticed the girl reaching for the crumbles and tried to stop her by asking if that particular croissant was for her, the girl put the crumbles on it, then closed the box and handed it to her. After an interaction of the girl telling my friend that the crumbles go on everything, and her reply that she had ordered it without the crumbles because of being allergic, she sarcastically said that they could remake it but we would have to wait until after the orders that were placed after after ours. At that point my friend just asked for the rest of our order, some baclava and a lemon cake that were premade, and she repeated that we would have to wait, and she and the other female began making 2 different orders that were placed after ours. It was at this point that my friend demanded her money back and we walked out only to run into the male manager in the parking lot who overheard my friend and I's conversation and how upset we were, and tried to find out the issue, but at this point it was a 35 minute process and we were running late to another appointment and just left. Usually we love this place and the service isn’t this terrible, but after this, I don’t know if I can come back as it seems the health of their customer is not of...

I’ve tried a few things to give this place a chance. I haven’t really been too impressed. I tried the Dubai chocolate crepe today. I was actually coming hoping to find the specially made chocolate bar or the drenched fresh strawberries. But they didn’t have. The crepes are not any good (wish they would change the recipe or texture), but the chocolate, pistachio butter, and crispy kunafa were all great. Would have been amazing on fresh strawberries or in a bar.

—— UPDATE Tried the bar. $12 & it was pretty small. But the Dubai bars are notorious for being expensive right now, just usually they’re double this size. The bar was good. Nice and crunchy. The chocolate melts really easily, so you have to keep it refrigerated. I only wish the chocolate has some contrast to it, like it wasn’t so overly rich. Would be awesome to have a dark chocolate or semi-sweet option. But a decent bar. I personally prefer the BeesMax brand bars I can get off Amazon over this.
