Anyone who knows me, knows that I don't throw flowers where they're not deserved and I’m not going to take time to share something that’s not well worth it. We had the most amazing experience at La Hacienda Mexican Grill simply on a whim. After church, we decided just to stop in really quick to see what they might have of interest as we’d never been there. Joplin has quite a few "Mexican" restaurants, but this one is five steps above most that we’ve experienced. The food is authentic, fresh, and homemade. It was like making a quick trip to Chihuahua, Mexico, or a stop by Olvera Street in Southern California. It was that authentic! I’ve traveled all over Mexico from North to South and I’m originally from Southern California. This is the type of food I grew up with. It was just so good. It was really sad when our server shared with us that some people got up and left when they found out that La Hacienda doesn't serve alcohol. My first thought was; What are they coming for? Amazing food or a Buzz? Whatever, their loss! They have lots of beverage choices like Mexican Sodas in the bottle, Fountain Drinks, Juices and Excellent Iced Tea. This food was nothing short of AMAZING. The service was top shelf, and the atmosphere was pleasant and quaint. We've lived in Joplin for almost 9 years and sadly we'd not heard of this little jewel. They’ve been open since 2018. Thankfully following that little whim of ours we hit the jackpot. If you're looking for really, really good food and some nice folks to serve it, you owe it to yourself and your family to check out this wonderful little restaurant. It’s my absolute pleasure to tell you about it! Thank you Israel, Isaac, and Julia for making our first visit to your La Hacienda so nice. We’ll be back to see you...
Read moreFirst time I tried to go there and they were not open during regular business hours. I was told they opened later that day. I went back for lunch with a friend and we were greeted and quickly seated. Our waiter was very friendly and was joking around with us and made us feel very welcome. This was fine, but during the course of our meal he interrupted several times with playful banter and that got annoying. My friend ordered the King Quesadilla and I got the Mexican Flag. Both meals were cooked well, but I wish I would have got the King quesadilla as it looked amazing. My friend said he liked the King quesadilla. My Mexican Flag entree was good, but nothing special and honestly not very memorable as I am writing this review over a week after my meal and I can't think of anything that stood out about it. Chips and salsa were good. Our waiter asked if we wanted hot salsa and was told it was very hot. We tried it and it was mild at best and is best when mixed with the regular salsa. Prices of the meals are typical as most mexican restaurants in the area. I hope they do well and I do plan to try them out again as I really want to check out that King Quesadilla.

Read moreThis used to be my favorite Mexican place to eat at, I have spent plenty of my money to eat here and I will not be returning. I came in with my two year old daughter and my cousin to have chips and queso (let me add that I have ordered plenty of meals here and this is not a common thing for me to only order queso, but when money is tight you have to do what’s necessary) as a little treat. As a result of this, they limited us to two baskets of chips and charged me for an extra basket of chips. I found this completely absurd as we ordered a large queso and had one thing of salsa. The waitress took our first basket, that was still half full and failed to mention that we would be limited on our chips, otherwise we would have finished our first basket. I mentioned this to the lady up front and she said “ma’am I am the owner” and I’m not sure what her point was in this as she embarrassed herself in the way she handled the situation, she was extremely rude and just continued to argue with me about the situation. I will most definitely NOT be returning because of this matter. There is no other Mexican restaurant in town that would do this, so I will find another place who values their customers whether they order a full...
