Went in on a sunday evening with my girlfriend and was greeted by a very confrontational bartender. Older gentleman who didnât greet us or acknowledge our presence as he was talking to a woman who was the only person in bar at the time. She couldâve possibly been a co-worker. It was two hours to close and immediately felt like we annoyed this man by walking in. As soon as a drink request was given the bartender demanded an ID and thatâs fine. I have a Kansas license with an outdated address on it. He asked for my address and I missed one number but read out everything else to the zip code. I hadnât lived there in over 5 years. I understand the precautions but the situation became increasing hostile after that. Not sure if he was having a bad day or have something else going on in his life but the whole experience was ruined from the beginning. He even followed us out of the establishment as he tried to get the last word as we told him to have a good day. My girlfriend was a local and had talked the place up so I was very much looking forward to it. Although It was rather unfortunate and I understand the precautions taken, at least get a license scanner if you want to be 100% sure. God bless this man and the...
Read moreMy wife and I visited this place for the first time on Saturday. We are locals and are always looking for new eccentric spots. Owner had horrible attitude from moment we walked in and asked if we were here to order drinks? (As if walking into a bar isn't obvious) Started a tab and immediately charged my card before I even started drinking. When asked about it said that he "pre authorizes" due to people not having enough money to buy drinks or only buying 1 round. In the end double charged me for my drinks and we still left a decent tip. Horrible conversation and just uninterested and unfriendly. Love the esthetic and vibe! Horrible management and no respect for locals! Will not be...
Read moreBest place to hangout in Joplin. The Living Room has a very chill, welcoming atmosphere that encourages you to socialize and recall a great time for pop culture and design, not just drink until you're too bleary-eyed to admire all the '60s furniture and maximalist '70s dÊcor.
The owners are wonderful people and Jay slings the best Bloody Mary in town. Bring your own brunch on Sundays....
