I want to thank the kitchen and front of the house staff for an outstanding dining experience today. What initially attracted me to the Fish House is the Tuesday and Thursday 2 pound Lobster special.
Lunch started on a good note. Fresh bread and herb infused oil was brought to us with our beverages. This may seem a minor comment, but many times I've dined out at restaurants that flub this simple offering. The oil is poured from a bottle onto a plate and is definitely blended that day. The bread was fresh and interesting; not the dry commercial grade found in too many other places that would serve better as packing material. The oil was so tasty, I dipped parts of my salad in it for extra taste sensations.
My companion ordered the lobster and the Chef did not disappoint! Perfectly steamed and served with a side of fresh coleslaw and high quality drawn butter (yes, there are restaurants that actually use a second or third tier version of this condiment) it was an outstanding lunch. Simple, honest, brightly presented and abundant. My choice was the Salmon and Beet Salad. As I am not a great fan of salmon, I asked our waitress, Maria, if a substitution of grilled mahi would be possible. She didn't bat an eye and accommodated instantly. This gave me two tells: her relationship with the kitchen is excellent and her knowledge of the menu flawless. Maria was the consummate waitress throughout. Her timing between courses was perfect and at no time was there a lag nor a feeling of being rushed. The salad was delicious. pretty cuts of roasted beets and heirloom tomatoes graced the plate alongside mixed greens, watermelon and a really good white balsamic vinaigrette.
Speaking of courses, the Lobster included an appetizer choice of either soup or salad. Today's soup is Cream of Broccoli and it is excellent. Freshly made from real ingredients it actually refreshed on a Floridian humid day. We opted for outdoor seating, as we are not a/c enthusiasts. Obviously, we will be back many times subsequent to today's memorable lunch. Meanwhile, I offer two small suggestions: allow the overhead fans in the patio run all day (I didn't notice them until we were leaving and did not think to ask) and the wine list include one or two more white Burgundies to complement the thoughtfully authored menus. This is a restaurant that deserves respect and a full...
Read moreMy husband and I went to dinner there on Friday night (2/16) for my birthday. We don't get out much being parents of two young kids with another one on the way, so when we do go out, we have high expectations and like to take our time. We were not disappointed! I can't remember our server's name, but he was a tall and slim gentleman with short dark hair. We told him we weren't in any rush, and he was happy to accommodate us. We had a drink and ordered the muscles and conch fritters to start, and we were blown away by how delicious they were! My husband is pretty picky about food (especially seafood), and when the muscles arrived he was a bit disappointed because they were on the smaller side. However, once we had our first bite we couldn't stop eating them! We were both pleasantly surprised, and in agreement that they were the BEST muscles we have EVER had! We've had muscles at a lot of different places, but these were nothing short of amazing. They were so tender, and the sauce was so flavorful! The conch fritters were equally as amazing too! They were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, there were no overly chewy pieces, and the sauce it comes with paired nicely with a little kick to it. We almost ordered another bowl of muscles to eat for dinner because of how delicious they were, but decided to try some other items. My husband ordered the fried grouper, and I had the "coco-mac" (coconut & macadamia nut crusted) Mahi Mahi. Both were cooked perfectly and had so much flavor! Everything from start to finish was perfect. Even the salads that came with our meals were delicious! My husband got the ceasar salad, I got the house salad, and they were very fresh and still cold (often times a small salad comes out warm and soggy). We had plenty of time to enjoy each course too, which makes a huge difference to us. Again, we don't get out much, so we like to take our time when we go out. All too often we feel rushed, have dinner served when we are only halfway done with appetizers, getting the bill before we've finished eating, etc. So it was very nice to feel welcome to take as long as we wanted, and we finished each course before the next course was served. My husband made sure to thank our server for letting us take our time with a generous tip đ We can't wait to come back and get those delicious...
Read moreOff Highway 1 in Juno Beach, Tip: Love lobster? You can ALWAYS have a great lobster at the Fish House, but call them to see which days they offer their 2lb+ Lobster with all the fixings for around $30-35. It's usually on Thursday evening but the best way to be certain is to give them a call and ask. Also ask about the Sundown Don't Specials which are amazing. You need to be seated by 6p.m. and have your orders placed. These are overspending full meals that include a large sized house salad greens or Cesar's or choice of chowder or soup, incredible freshly baked bread in the shape of little fish, that you can place in a small plate of olive oil, salt and pepper and a touch of balsamic vinegar. Cost over of several entrees offered and I've had them all and I've not ever been disappointed. My favorite is the fried grouper fish with a sweat potato crispy light crust and send very hot and with tons of that fresh local catch flavor. Even the ribs are fantastic. where locals and tourists enjoy great seafood, ribs and sandwiches and a happy staff to serve your food and libations. Dress casual or dress it up as everyone is comfortable here. After dinner, just walk a block east and you'll be one of the most beautiful public beaches anywhere! We're locals and know where to eat here in town. For great fish that's fresh from mostly local waters, one great and adorable and relaxed placed to dine is here. Located on Highway 1 on the east side of the road right next to the Holiday Inn Express. We've had most reverting on the menu. We personally love the lobster specials, fish and chips, grouper and salmon. You'll be greeted by friendly staff that have worked there for years and can handle any special requests with ease. It's a fun and comfortable restaurant, not trendy and not uptight at all. Good people, tourists and plenty of locals and a short walk...
