My wife and I stopped by for dinner. There was no wait for a table in the bar area. We found a high top, sat down and the waitress, took our drink order. I ordered a draft "Der Chancellor" and the wife ordered a house Chardonnay. 10 minutes later the waitress arrives with the beer and a house Cabernet. She put the drinks down and went off to the next table. Strike one!
We managed to get her attention and let her know that she brought the wrong wine. She brings the correct wine few minutes later.
We placed our food order. My wife orders the fish tacos with coleslaw and I order the Hogfish Rachel with coleslaw. The order arrives about 20 minutes later. My wife received the fish tacos, but with rice instead of coleslaw. I received an entirely different meal that I didn't order. Strike two!
All the food went back and about 15 minutes later, the correct order comes out.
Our food was delicious!
After the meal, I ordered a Basil Hayden bourbon which was priced at $16 on the drink menu. It arrived in about 10 minutes. It was loaded with ice chips instead of a bourbon ball or "gentlemens" cube, which made it taste watered down. I took out most of the ice which reduced the liquid volume in the glass to less than half.
We got our check and noticed that we were charged $18 for the Basil Hayden bourbon. We got a hold of the waitress and asked for an explanation. She said she would have to go talk with her manager . Upon her return, she told us that we were charged an additional $2 because the bourbon drink was a "rock pour" which means they add more ice and add additional bourbon and charge you $2 above the list price. Of course that caveat is explained "nowhere" on the drink menu!
Now it became a matter of principle. We pushed back on the explanation and she went to get her Manager. The Manager arrived shortly there after. We explained our situation from the very beginning starting with the wrong wine being delivered to the table. We discussed the bourbon "rock pour" and he went on to reiterate the same thing the waitress said. I told him that this "rock pour" thing isn't an asterisk somewhere on the drink menu. He took the check and said he would see what he could do about the charge. At that point, a good Manager should've just said; "no problem, $16 it is." But instead, he disappeared for another 10 minutes or so. Don't know if he went to call the owner or what he was doing. He ended up taking the $2 additional charge off the check but good God, really! Strike three!
It'll may be a long while before we go back...
Read moreHave been coming here off and on for the better part of 10 years. Unfortunately it’s time to never return. Had always enjoyed the food and ambiance. Several years back, I was with a group and an order of fries tasted like it had been dipped in gasoline. Very weird. So I avoided the restaurant for some time. Went with friends on Friday night, a group of 6. When we walked in, we were told it would be a 30 minute wait. After an hour, went to check on wait time, told it would be soon. 10-15 more minutes go by, check again, told the table we would be seated at was on their check. Okay, great. More time goes by and we’re then told, well it’s a large party table and we can’t ask them to leave. I totally understand that. But the table had approximately 10-14 people seated. I then said, we’ll we’re not a large party, we’re only 6 people. Apparently that is their definition of “large party”. The woman at the hostess stand at that point was apparently some type of supervisor. ZERO customer service skills. With a nasty attitude, she stated that her “system” told her our wait was an hour and a half. I explained that is not what we were told, or we wouldn’t have stayed. Long waits happen, but we made the choice to stay because we were told it was 30 minutes. All she did is refer to her “system”. Mind you at this point, I see several open tables, the ones that seat 4 people. The woman then once again with a nasty attitude says, “well if you like, I can seat all 6 of you at a table for 4, how would you like that?” I then said, well how hard would it be to put two of those tables together, since I see many of those tables open and vacant for at least 15-20 minutes? One again with her nasty attitude, she said, “you’re a large party, we can’t do that”. At this point, we were just about to walk out the door and go across the street to Twisted Tuna, who had immediate sit down availability. Then someone comes up to show us to our table. They decided to put two of the empty tables together, like I had suggested, but the woman with the attitude said couldn’t be done. The server, Jackie was fabulous, but our night had pretty much been ruined by the experience prior to sitting down. Place has fabulous ambiance and setting, food is usually good, but just not...
Read moreWe came in (5 top) at kind of a busy time. No big deal. We were able to seat ourselves at a hightop in the bar area. The kids thought the enormous fish tank behind the bar was pretty awesome! We were quickly greeted and ordered drinks. Our server was extremely polite and prompt with just about everything. All the staff that I interacted with was polite and nice to interact with. The kids got the calamari and the chicken strips and fries. Calamari was good, my son wasn't too crazy about the Thai sweet and sour sauce that came with. Chicken strips were... Well, chicken strips.. My wife and I ordered and split the mussels scampi, grilled kimchee beef tenderloin tips, and the sashimi appetizer. The muscles scampi were delicious, and came with plenty of muscles. The tenderloin tips were alright. I expected the meat to be a bit more tender, since it was tenderloin tips and not chuck or rump aka stew meat. I didn't get any hint of kimchee in them at all. They weren't bad, just not what I expected. A little gochujang or Korean red pepper flake would've really brought that flavor in. The sashimi app was alright as well. The tuna and white fish were good and tasted very fresh. The salmon, while it tasted fresh wasn't very firm at all. Coming from Alaska, I'm pretty familiar with salmon, even farmed salmon, and this just seemed a bit old. It didn't have an off taste or smell, just the texture wasn't right. Out of the three apps we ordered, I'd say the muscles were the best. Overall, the experience was pretty good. There were two customers that sat on the patio with their dogs (not service dogs, MAYBE emotional support). One was like a Lhasa Apso and the other TWO were Burmese mountain dogs that really wanted a piece of the smaller dog. They were barking very loudly, pretty much our entire visit. Don't get me wrong. I love dogs, but dogs like those three that can't keep quiet or behave in public, are probably best...
