We ordered here because conveniently both our 2 normal sushi spots were closed so we thought we’d give it a try. WARNING: The service is soooo slow. My husband and I ordered take out tonight. Sunday night, so we figured we’d beat the evening rush and rang in exactly at 4:59p. We order 2 sushi rolls and 1 basic hibachi dinner, that’s it. They told us 45 min. At first I thought hmm that’s kinda long for a pick up order usually it’s 20-25 min. But I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I thought it’s Sunday night, after covid, with 2 other local sushi competitors closed (they normally aren’t closed on Sunday’s) I figured buisness is probably popping.
We arrive to Chubbys exactly at 5:36p and food isn’t ready. Wow that’s kinda surprising, it must be busy you’d think. Wrong. There is literally only 2 guests sitting at the sushi bar. Not a single table or other dine in guest. Hmm maybe a long line of take out orders? Nope. There was one other guest there who was waiting for her pick up order who had just complained about ordering an hour prior. So my husband comes sits in the car with me and goes back in at 5:45p at which point they inform him they are making the rolls now. Which he then came to realize they were actually making the other ladies rolls and noticed them making what he assumed were our rolls at 5:55p. Fast forward to 6:04p when he finally comes back to the car with our two rolls and 1 hibachi. The irony of it all.. all they say is “sorry, we’re really busy.” So it took them an hour and 20 min to make our 2 rolls and 1 hot dish. I’d hate to see what it would have taken for a larger order or on a day where they actually looked busy. If they had a full house inside, or had a bunch of pick up orders coming through or heck if we had a heavy order then it could have been understandable. But to see how dead it was and how long it took for such a small order just blew my mind.
I will say the food is delicious and that’s the only reason I’m giving them a 3. Good quality food just plan your day around expecting an extended wait beyond normal. Go in with that mind set and then you’ll be golden. I guess it was our own fault for not reading the reviews before hand but we REALLY...
Read moreFirst heard about this place when our family moved to the area about a year ago. Tonight was our first night. The only regret we have about coming here tonight was we didn't come sooner! We ordered several rolls (uncle Ethan, bubba, spicy rainbow, and shrimp tempura) which were all so fresh, wonderfully sized, with great presentation. I wish I had pictures to post, but my camera wasn't working for some reason! We also got to try the ramen, a hamachi appetizer that had jalapeño on top and shrimp tempura appetizer which was perfectly fried with the right amount of crisp. The service was wonderful, as the owner was so gracious and stopped to chat with us to make sure everything was up to par. The restaurant's ambiance was nice, unassuming, and well decorated with Asian inspired decor. We opted to sit on that tatami floor, making the dining experience more unique which the kids loved! Speaking of kids, the owner and staff were very accommodating to my 2 toddlers' needs. Seriously, as picky of a person I am, I rarely give 5 star reviews ---- we hit the jackpot today all around, service, ambiance, kid-friendliness, quality/taste of food, truly an overall great experience on our Sunday night out. Needless to say, we will absolutely be back and I suggest to those reading this--- check out...
Read moreIf I could give this place less than half star, I would. I am by no means a snob when it comes to dining out. What I am is a vegetarian. When I go out to eat, which is not often, I choose only places that are vegetarian or veg friendly. To start with, the staff here had personalities of wet mops. The hibachi 'chef' barely uttered 2 words and even after being told that I am a vegetarian, he not only cooked the steak and scallops at the same time as the vegetables, he cooked them in the same spot using the same utensils. There was none of the usual fun flair and showmanship you normally get when you are paying $25+ a plate at a hibachi grill. The tea was water with a slight flavor and never once did they offer to refill our beverages. We had to ask for the white sauce that every hibachi place I've ever been to provides and when we received it, it was thousand island dressing. I will be very surprised if this place last in Jupiter, a town where the people have certain expectations when dining out. Oh, and my being a vegetarian would not have inconvenienced any of the other diners at our table, as me and my dining partner were the only two at the table. No vegetarian should...
