What happened to twisted tuna? This place used to be my favorite place in Jupiter, the food used to be exceptional and the service and management on point, but the last two times last week had been horrible. The first time I went with my husband and the food was so bad that I ended up take it home and giving it to my dog, but I said, well maybe they had an off night. Service was whatever ( we saw the server twice if much) Then on Thursday I decided to give them another chance and it was even worse, I ordered the oysters first and they were warm, then we ordered the clam chawder which I used to rave that place for it and they gave us some kind of a disgusting gravy ( the soup was brown yuck) so I finally said something ( which I never do ) and returned it. Then we were given the happy hour menu and even our waitress said to take advantage of it. We decided to ordered the small bites, I'm even pointing the happy hour menu to our waitress. To my surprise, she brings the big portions of the regular menu and said that the happy hour is just for the bar, when she herself told us to take advantage of it. I was furious already with the terrible food and now she brings more than we can eat. I told her again that I ordered the small plates from the happy hour because she told me to and she kept saying that she didn't even know why the hostess gave me that menu. She knew I wasn't happy and no manager approached like they used to, no one cared that I ended up boxing all that terrible food again. I was super embarrassed because I was raving about this place with a friend that came all the way from boca to celebrate my birthday. Even my friend apologized to me for such a bad experience which I felt horrible because I was the one who told her to go.They obviously changed the kitchen, management, and staff in general. I'm never coming back again,...
Read moreStopped into Twisted Tuna for a late night dinner. Had not been here before and wasn't sure what to expect. We got there a little after 10pm and they listed online that they close at 12am. When we walked in the door I asked the hostess if the kitchen was still open and she replied it sure is and sat us. We chose the high top table by the bar. The place wasn't too busy, with the exception of the bar. We placed our appetizer order and drink order. My wife got a margarita and I got their old fashion. For an appetizer we got oysters from the raw bar. We then met the bartender (Alexi) who brought us our drinks and told us she would be taking our order. Super friendly and very very attentive. My wife ordered the Zuppa di pesce (awesome dish) and I ordered the linguini and clams (no shortage of clams). The Zuppa di pesce seriously is enough food for 2 people. This plate easily had $80 worth of seafood on it. TOTALLY worth ordering again. An absolutely flavorful dish and not one flavor over took the other. The linguini and clams should be renamed clams with linguini. Super flavorful and savory. Did not need to add anything to it. Throughout the evening the staff came by the table to check on us, everyone was extremely polite and very happy even with it being so close to closing time. Several of the other servers that stopped by our table stayed and chatted with us for a bit. Not the usual can I get you anything lines. Peggy made sure our drink orders made it to the bar when Alexi was tending to the other customers at the bar. We.never had a dry glass or waited for a drink. The manager even stopped by to check on us and thanked us for coming in. They also have a rewards program. Needless to say I am very happy that we stopped in here for the night. The food, drinks, and service were all amazing! My wife and I found a great place to dine...
Read moreYou'll find the Twisted Tuna located just off Rte 1 on the island in Jupiter. It's a relative newcomer to the scene here as the original was founded up north a bit in Port Salerno. Still, imho, it is one of the best new additions to open up here in the North County!
Twisted Tuna is a great regional Floribbean themed tavern and restaurant that really has its act together. The menu is pages long and has something for virtually everyone - from sushi lovers, to fresh seafood fanatics, from humble beef-eating landlubbers to conch-odoring islanders. ;-)
Seriously, one great menu example (maybe the one I feel best encapsulates their overall approach) is their Fisherman's Platter. Whereas other restaurants might feature some local fish along with shrimp and not so regional clam strips, Twisted Tuna has taken a fresh, local approach! Their platter features beer-battered mahi and shrimp, large and luscious conch fritters, as well as large pieces of fried cracked conch along with their namesake Twisted Fries. It really is a great local plate!
Other favorites include their ENORMOUS Grouper Sandwich (really, it's not to be missed and can feed two average folks if need be) as well as their own delicious take on smoked fish dip that is made with house caught and smoked tuna that they serve in a fried tortilla shell with all the fixins.
This is a great place to while away a hot, breezy afternoon in their outdoor bar area right next to the sights and sounds of a neighboring swimming pool. Really.
For me, Twisted Tuna it's FIVE STARS all the way!
Oh, and don't forget to try...
