Papa's Italian Sausage — Restaurant in Kalamazoo

I almost never give 5 stars. However I am glad to say this Italian restaurant is a acception to the rule. I was expecting a small sub shop. To my surprise it was so much more. This is a pleasent little Italian restaurant. Yes they have subs, however they have a range of other dish's including pastas and unique dishes. The facility was, dare I say hospital clean. Even the rest rooms looked like a 5 star resort. I ordered 3 subs, fries and a additional side and drinks and they had the food up and severed right to my table in about 3 minutes, it was shockingly fast. The lobby has a unique mix of Italian Family vibes with old photos on the walls mixed with a modern upgrade. They also have an out side seating area. This facility has multiple awards and news articles discussing their wonderful service and products and the facility's rich historical value to the community. There lobby has a small childrens area and the air was filled with low classical music. I drove almost a hour to review this restaurant and I can say I highly, highly recommend this restaurant individual's and families alike. So good that even being a hour away I will definitely, definitely visit them again the next time I want good Italian sausage. This restaurant has the rare honor of making my "full rave list" by being one of the very few restaurant's I have ever given 5 stars. I will surely be raving about this place for a while. I have had this on my list to check out for way too long before I finally made time. Got a little bit of everything to try with a small group. We got meatballs,* Sicilian sticks**, the Bella Supreme on white, and the Chicago style beef on wheat and nachos deluxe with no chili. Absolutely loved the Chicago Style Beef. It comes pre dipped in au jus, which wet bread always makes me skeptical, however this was delicious and the bread held up excellent. Ate it so quickly we didn't even realize no giardiniera was put on it until after the fact lol. Will try again with that on next time 🤪 The Sicilian sticks are way out of the norm for me. Im just not huge on pepperoni. However, my sister got me to try and this was my favorite bite. Packed with flavor. Highly recommend. The Bella Supreme needs sauce on it or served on the side imo. Without it I found it to be a bit dry but still good. The sausage and meatballs here are great. They know what they are doing and keep doing it consistently and well. Only thing that confused me is the parking. There is a brewery next door that shares a patio with this location. The brewery has signs for parking in the back lot but nothing for here. I was sure if I could use the lot or not. Which left some side parking down the street. But...

I stopped in on Friday after work like I always do I ordered an olive dog and a Chicago dog. After I get home I take a bite and the bun.is very tough. So I call them an explain it to the young guy who waited on me . I also asked if he put it in a microwave and he stated yes. I told him that's the reason it's tough. He then told me to put it back in the microwave and the bread will get softer. After I told him it would only make it tougher he had the nerve to argue with me about it. All he should have done was offer to remake it and I would have returned the bad hot dogs instead he wouldn't do anything about it.
