We LOVE middle eastern food, as someone that grew up in Germany and eat a lot of Dรถner Kebab this origin of food is not new to me at all. The place is a cute little restaurant, the staff is very warm and welcoming when you enter. The food smells and looks delicious this is what we tried: the option to eat at the lunch buffet and two orders of chicken Shawarma wrap and one order of fries. The beef and chicken unfortunately was dry but flavorful, the lentil rice was delicious, the falafel was dry and a bit harder then expected and did not taste very good, the biryani rice was flavorful, the garlic sauce with cucumbers was delicious!, the tahini tasted good. I LOVE Baklava and have not had any since I left California almost 9 years ago (middle eastern restaurant there was AMAZING) this baklava was alright, missing some flavors and missing a lot of honey. I thought they would make it there but it comes from Canada. Either way give it a try, it's not bad and maybe they will improve the...
ย ย ย Read moreThis is a really great place for some middle eastern/lebanese food. I have only ever eaten the buffet there, but I believe you can order from a menu, and can do carry-out from the buffet by the pound.
This Westnedge location of Shawarma King may be a little different than the other locations in town, so that is good to keep in mind. When I have been, the buffet tends to feature several meats (e.g. two chickens, one beef, and a meatball), roasted potatoes, rice, rice with lentils, collard greens, stuffed cabbage leaves, , and a few other rotating dishes. They also will have two soups, and there is a second bar that has salad, garlic spread, hummus (that well-known and loved super creamy and smooth hummus!), baba ganoush, etc. They will also bring a basket of stacks of pita bread for you to your table.
I love this place for having flavorful variety that isn't all just deep-fried or carbs. I can load up on meat and vegetables that taste great. I do...
ย ย ย Read moreWhenever we come to Kalamazoo we have to stop here! My husband is from the middle east and we both love middle eastern food and consider ourselves quite the experts. ;) We both have only gotten the buffet. I'm a vegetarian and they have plenty of vegetarian options and my husband loves meat and he says the meat is good. They have the best falafel I've had at a restaurant. It's so light and crispy on the outside and delicious. In fact I had a bit of everything(except meat) and everything was delicious. Last time I was there I had to ask them what type of oil they use because everything was so good I figured it had to have something to do with the oil they use. The buffet is decent sized, wouldn't say they have a ton of stuff but definently enough. Last time we were there the service was really good the time before that not so much, it took forever to get a drink refill I went and...
