Yep, this place right here. Seems we always find these smooth little joints that have been here in Kansas City but we've yet to encounter them. Such is Anchor Island Coffee. If you blink your eye you may pass by without seeing it as you cruise down Troost. It's on the East side of Troost at the exact corner of 41st Street.
Now let's get into it. He gets drip and dashes. I get tea and a tamale and stay. The shop is quaint in size and accommodates about 16 folks comfortably. Love that coziness. The music is a beautiful array of Latin artists that invite you to dance, shimmy or something. The Christmas music is fabulous!!!
The pork tamale I had was insanely great as evidenced by the bite taken before the picture. Oops. It was so tender and seasoned perfectly. The masa was exquisite, fluffy and the filling had a good ratio, flavorful and cooked to perfection. I hate that I didn't have more than 1. I wonder if they offer special pricing for a half dozen or so to go? 🤔 Thank you to the Kitchen for a beautiful tamale that I really loved. Chicken next time.
We enjoyed the Barista who is so very kind and accommodating! The way he took charge to suggest the proper Black tea for me was what I needed. We shall return especially on a weekday. They actually rotate coffee roasters from around our city so you can come here and experience the absolute BEST of Kansas City roasters!!!!!!! Are you kidding me?! That's a bonus that will make us return over and over and over.... Thanks for...
Read moreMy friend and I met at Anchor Island Coffee for breakfast this week; it was our first time visiting, and we had a lovely time! The ambience is very welcoming, with local art on the walls and nautical-themed graphics on the tables. Everyone behind the counter was extremely friendly and helpful as we navigated the menu, answering all our questions with a smile. They were genuinely interested in ensuring we had a great meal. And we did! I had the egg burrito breakfast, and my friend had the French toast, and everything was DELICIOUS! Very fresh flavors, artful seasoning, and creative plating (the way they cut the French toast evoked the shape of a heart). I had the house coffee (from Broadway Roasting Company), and my friend had the cappuccino, and our drinks were just as delicious as the food. Our orders were brought out very quickly, even during a fairly busy time of day, and again--service with a smile. Many thanks to everyone at Anchor Island Coffee for a delightful time! We'll...
Read moreSomeone told my better half about this place, so we went to check it out. I was really pleased with everything!! I asked for suggestions on a coffee, and the barista suggested something. I told her that would be fine. Then I picked the Verde Chicken off the menu. The coffee was amazing! I wish I could remember the name of it. I will attach a picture, because it was really pretty. I even got a second one to go! The Verde chicken was really good! It was not very spicy, and had great flavor! The mango chutney made it hit different areas of the palate and was very enjoyable! When I went to order my second coffee to go, I stood at the counter and visited with the barista for a minute and learned a little about the place. Then the owner delivered my coffee and told us thank you for coming in. We will 100% be going back. Also, they have a little sliding window, and give a pup cup to people with their dogs! We saw a dog get one, and he was dancing as they handed it out the...
