Stylist Brandi:: From a Clientās perspective
I am not writing this review to shame this stylist, but to maybe bring awareness to the customer service side of professionalism at this salon and maybe others. To also maybe open up the stylist eyes to what the customer sees and feels on the other side. Especially if they are first time customers as I was. I moved to KC about four years ago, and Iāve been looking for a stylist for a while now. Iāve been natural for about 9-10 months, and I needed to find someone to regularly trim my hair, and to maybe give me a little insight on how to maintain the health of my curls. When I booked my first appointment with Brandi for a silk press, trim, and deep conditioner treatment, I was super excited to just go, relax, and have some much needed āMEā time. Seeing Brandiās work online reminded me of my stylist back at home. I arrived 30 minutes early for my appointment, and after I walked into the salon not one stylist greeted me, nor did they ask about my appointment status. They looked up at me and kept going on about their business. The atmosphere was THICK and uncomfortable almost like there was a lot of tension in the air. Anyway, I spoke up politely and said, āHello! I am here for a 3:30 appointment with Brandi.ā Brandi then said she would be with me in a min. I ended up sitting for about 2 hours before she finally approached me. Without introducing herself, the first thing she says to me while reaching out to touch my hair( not asking to touch it) is, āIs this shrinkage? Because I donāt do short hair.ā She repeated this to me again as I sat there blown away by her rude approach. First impressions are Everything. Granted my hair was in a fro and definitely needed a wash, but this is why I am here! I feel that there is a better way to ask a client about their hair, especially if youāre in front of other ladies. Her approach made me feel as if I was being judged for having tight coily thick hair. After pausing for a brief second, I responded with a simple yes. She then told me that it would be about another hour before she gets to me. Now I am a woman who is secure in her looks and hair, and I definitely know that I am Godās masterpiece, but I felt as if she did not care to do ANYTHING with my natural hair based off of what it looked like at the time. Almost as if It was because I didnāt have what some black people may call āGOOD, long hair.ā I personally donāt have anything against stylist who do not want to do short hair or natural hair (at the time the ends of my hair was touching my shoulder), but please say that on your website. Maybe give a measurement of what length you are comfortable working with online before customers book an appointment. Under Brandiās profile picture she said that she specializes in natural hair along with a list of other styles. After our encounter, I patiently waited to get in the chair ( got in the chair a little after 5pm) while contemplating on walking out due to me feeling so uncomfortable. I knew that if I walked out, I would have gotten charged anyway for her time. In the end, My silk press came out ok, but the service was not great. I didnāt even receive my deep conditioning treatment. I left at 6:30, and had to cancel my 7 pm valentines date event with my husband. The stylist even stopped to visit a friend outside for a bit while in the middle of my appointment. Hopefully this review will help both clients...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI hired Victoria from this salon to do my bridesmaids hair. She came highly recommended so I was very happy when she agreed. Everything was good at first. I sent her what I wanted and she sent me the exact hairstyle showing me that it was achievable. Then the day before my wedding everything went downhill. Even though from the beginning I said I want silk press and a bun for my bridesmaids hair Victoria tried to talk me out of it. She kept trying to tell me that there hair could be simply flat ironed and kept pushing a ponytail. I politely told her thatās not what I wanted so finally we agreed on the original agreement of the silk press and the bun for the hairstyle. But with doing so the price went up but I had no choice so I agreed. The day of my wedding she calls me saying that the style she had already showed me she could achieve was not do able that day and that she needed to change the hairstyle at the last minute. I said ok I still want an updo so make it close to what I originally asked for. Once I got there I saw that she put the same ponytails in there hair that I told her the day prior I did not want. My issue was that she didnāt prioritize my day as important. She was so focused on leaving and doing what she had planned for that day that my day became an afterthought and she did everything in her power to do the bare minimum. She kept saying I have to go I have a makeup appointment and etc. She did not care about my 6 ladies or about our contract. I was extremely disappointed in my experience here because she is the only vendor that stressed me out on my wedding day and made me cry on my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat an unfortunate experience. I do not recommend this salon or booking with Mani the Stylist. She flaked on our scheduled appointment, lacked customer service, and was unprofessional. I booked the appointment a month out and even texted her again a week prior to confirm the appointment and location. She simply responded to "check my email for the location." When I arrived for the appointment, she stated she never actually put it on her books. Due to her lack of time management and scheduling capabilities, she said she might be able to do my hair later that same day. However, I felt uncomfortable due to her lack of professionalism and thankfully was able to get in with another stylist. The owner witnessed our exchange and although empathetic, she didn't appear...
