Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Kansas City

This place is horrible. People making ice cream don’t wear gloves, and touch bananas with their bare hands. The cheese curds are always tough, rubbery and cold. The lobby is always dusty and the wait times are ridiculous. The rugs in the lobby are always dirty looking, too. Either my food is cold or the ice cream is melted and something is always broken. The soda machine in the lobby is always questionable, between it either not working or the soda itself being off. There’s always a 50/50 chance that you’ll even be able to get what blizzard you want. This location is constantly running out of toppings. If it’s not the strawberries, it’s the bananas or whipped cream. The banana splits are always filled with extra liquid. They don’t even have fresh cherries. Don’t come here in the summer either. I don’t know if they just leave them out, or if the freezers are broken too, but my dilly bars have been melted before. This place just can’t get anything right, not even their already packaged products. And I have never seen an employee rinse off the blender between blizzards. The burgers are dry and often bland. My fries are either lukewarm or cold. And on many occasions, the staff behind the counter are loud. Some of the staff are lovely, and others are pieces of work. Overall, many of the staff members look and act unprofessional, and down right dingy. I understand that it’s cold, but the employees will wear hoodies and jackets over their uniform, that just makes them look like they don’t care. This place also obviously has a high turn over rate, it doesn’t seem like employees last long here. I understand that a lot of them are kids, but some of the people that seem to be part of their ‘senior staff’ are just as clueless as the younger staff. It’s obvious that this store could use a thorough cleaning and extensive customer service training, as some of them are clearly aren’t experienced enough with human interaction. This is possibly the worst place I’ve ever gone to eat, and if the restaurant itself wasn’t bad enough, the parking lot is too narrow to get in and out of, especially with the line wrapping around the entire building. I really hope this place shapes up soon, but I’m sure they’ll be just fine because it seems as if the store takes advantage of teens need for part time jobs. And just takes advantage of their employees in general, as there have been many occasions where I’ve heard yelling and things being thrown in the back, as well as many examples of vulgar language. 10 out of 10 on this review, staff was very clean, organized and respectful. An employee named Kaitlyn Erickson (I got permission to give her a shout out), cleaned the seats, floors, tables and bathrooms very well. This is the nicest DQ I've ever been in. The food is incredible and the prices are reasonable, they were very fast with our food. Everything was fresh, they have a wide variety of full sized cakes and other interesting cake decorations as you can see in the photos with the cakes. Birthday celebrations or if you just want a fresh cookies n cream ice cream cake? You're going to love this place. I'm giving the employees that are working right now a 10/10, they are very friendly and sociable but also professional and courteous. I'm definitely coming back to this establishment and I encourage other Americans that love cheeseburgers and great service, best fast food place in Kansas City in my personal opinion. I'd also like to commend Holden Vanfossan. Everything excellent all around. The employees were very appreciative of this review as I even showed them what I wrote and they were ecstatic that someone gave them some positive recognition for their hardwork. I usually don't write reviews of fast food places because let's be honest, there's not a lot of expectations when it comes to these type of places. But I felt compelled after our experience tonight to leave a review. Stopped by around 8pm to grab two blizzards. Drive thru line seemed to be moving so I opted for that vs going inside. Huge mistake. As soon as we got in line, the people a couple cars ahead of us got an entire families meal. So we waited. Forever. How about installing pick up spots like other fast food places to keep things moving? Anyway, we ordered a small vanilla blizzard with Oreo and cookie dough, and then a small chocolate blizzard with peanut butter and brownies. I had to repeat the entire order and explain to the person what it was I wanted twice. Finally we get to the window. Pay, and at least they got mine right. But the other was small, and was chocolate but had no peanut butter and M&Ms. What? How in the world do you get that from brownies?
