My wife and I have dined here a few times in the past year and were so impressed with the great food and the efficient & friendly service we have introduced several friends, all of whom enjoyed the food.
Have you ever raved about some restaurant and took friends there, only to have the experience end in disaster? Unbelievably, it happened at Jerry's Cafe today, when we took a couple from MD there for breakfast. We waited for 24 minutes to get inside. No big deal. We waited 8 minutes to get menus. We waited 9 minutes to get drinks and silverware. Ordered a cinnamon roll for appetizer and had to flag the waitress down after waiting 8 minutes for it. Yes, I was timing all this by the large clock on the wall. Ordered our food.
Waited 26 minutes impatiently while people seated long after us were now eating. (They had a different waitress). Ours was busy wiping tables and filling containers with something from a large bottle. After another 12 minutes we waved at her and she pointed into the kitchen, indicating that the food was in there. After another7 minutes we saw our waitress holding one of our orders in one hand while assisting another waitress solve a register problem. People are waiting for their food!
And worst of all, most of the meal was bad. Hash browns were slushy, much of it buried under my corned beef hash , which was way over-cooked and dried into little pellets. It was unrecognizable. Asked for water and she brought one glass, not four. Coffee refills were limited to one because by the time she brought the pitcher it was time to go.
Their renowned cinnamon roll, (they have previously been great), did not live up to its fame. Smaller in width and depth, it was tasty but not worth the price.
In all fairness, two of the four meals were pretty good. The biscuits & gravy and ham were good. Someone once told me Jerry is the cook and makes sure everything that leaves his kitchen is perfect. Maybe he was on...
Read moreAbsolute terrible server but I give them 4 stars because the food wasn't bad and the lady cooking was VERY nice! My receipt says Amber so I'm going to call her Amber. She is the most rudest and careless person. I ordered my food specifically with no bread I put emphasis on the "no bread" when I ordered because I intended to order a side of French toast. But Amber put my order in as sub French toast with the meal so I did not get a full serving. I never said sub she NEVER heard me say the word sub. When I explained to her that I ordered French toast, and not a side of French toast she got argumentative. She even printed my receipt to show me what I ordered. She had a major attitude while I sat there and waited for what I actually ordered and not what she wrote me up for. I even heard her tell the cook that I requested butter on my toast. That's not what I said. I said the butter she put in my container was opened and empty. Like it was someone's trash. The nice lady that was cooking brought me my food and apologized for the inconvenience(and made sure i had butter and syrup, which Amber didn't give me the first time). Now that I've gotten in my vehicle and left for the second time I realize Amber didn't give me my drink that I ordered. Although she can print out a receipt showing that I ordered a meal to sub French toast she could not look on that same receipt and see that she rung me up for a drink she never gave me. So I go back in for the third time and she rolled er eyes at me as if she didn't want to see me. So I said you forgot to give me my drink. She handed me my drink with no apology no remorse. Amber, if this is the attitude your going to carry in life, you need to find another job outside of customer service. Maybe try a collections agency. But either way you're not going to make it far in life at all if you can't own up to your mistakes and get mad at people when YOU...
Read moreBiggest concern while we waited for our food with my family was my toddler was sitting in a chair that's close to where their coffee machine was, one of the employees came to fill a bucket of super hot water fr the coffee machine and passed right behind my son. Imagine the crowded space someone could have bumped into them and caused the hot water to pour all over us. Very poorly organized, understaffed there are about 25-30 people here for 2 waitresses, honestly I was excited to try the food but we've literally have had to ask to be given menus, had to ask them to bring us drinks, to have them bring us silverware(to stir the coffee at least before we got our food), had to ask for them to take our order. I'm so unpleased with the attention, very poor. There were several customers from other tables who had to also get up to ask for something because there is no...
