Las Islas Marias — Restaurant in Kansas City

I went to Las Islas Maria's with my family this Saturday (5/21/16), and will never return again. The service was horrible, the food was even worst. I asked the waiter what he would recommend and he rudely pointed at some items and did not even take the time to explain what they consisted off. My family biracial (Mexican and Caucasian) and it seemed like everyone there had a problem with my Caucasian side of the family. The waiter would not even look at us when talking to us, and he did not speak English to us either, he just kept speaking Spanish; thinking that my mom and sister (who are clearly Caucasian and had a confused face) would understand. He never came to check on our table either, not even once. Never refilled our drinks or asked if we needed anything else. He just brought our drinks, food, and dropped off the check. What kind of service is that? Anyways, after the nasty meal that we had, he brought our check that was a total of $130 something. Not only was the food not edible, but the service made the experience even worst. I would not recommend anyone to eat here, more if your family is biracial, because they would probably look at you funny and be rude as heck. Walked in and was never greeted. Waited by the hostess stand. Hostess walked by us several times without saying a single word. Other parties arrived after us. The hostess seated other parties at their tables, walking past us several more times with no acknowledgement. One party walked in after us, and they were told there was a wait list. They were not on the wait list, but there was a hi-top table available if they wanted it. They took the table while I continued to wait to be acknowledge by anyone in the restaurant. Two other employees were at the register by the hostess stand the entire time and did not say anything or attempt to tell the hostess we were waiting. While I did not have a reservation (as there is not sign or anything to indicate this is necessary, or to make a reservation using an app), if I DID have a reservation they never would've known because I was ignored. I had went in there to had a nice dinner with my family but soon realized that they had karaoke playing and music was way too loud that you can’t even hear your partner speaking even right next to you. I made my decision to place an order to carry out instead, music was literally kicking some people other people out as well. I made it clear to them, that my decision was based on their music being too loud and they didn’t pay any mind to it besides taking my order for carry out. Food is ready in 20 mins, I had ordered aguachiles and if you know. That plate is suppose to be in flat plate so the lime juice can cook the shrimps, the plate where I got my aguachiles was divided in a few different sections.
