VERY INAPPROPRIATE AND RUDE INTERACTION WITH STAFF
After a long day of traveling, my husband and I stopped at this location for a late dinner at 9:15 pm on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. As we parked we noticed few cars, and were aware of the restaurant closing at 10 pm. So hoped to get some food quickly to get much needed rest.
We have frequented other Longhorn Steakhouses across the country, and love their steaks and the service has generally been exceptional.
However, we were completely taken aback, as we walked in and after patiently waiting for someone to notice us at the front lobby, a young man, either server or host approached us asking “how many?” He looked very annoyed with us, and admittedly tired. My husband and I looked at each other and hoped to simply ignore this initial unpleasant interaction. But as we followed him to a booth, he literally threw the menus on the table in such a fashion that they made a loud slap sound, since they are leather bound menus. My husband and I were startled by such a blatantly rude action, particularly as the young man just walked off after. Clearly, the gentleman was frustrated with us arriving late, at his being tired at the end of the day, or something.
My husband and I looked at each other and decided to leave given this extremely rude treatment. As we walked out, we saw a young woman who was likely to be our server approaching the table and looking at us with confusion as to why we were leaving. I signaled with my hands that we were leaving, completely disappointed.
All this to say, that whoever is managing this location should be sure to reiterate to their staff the importance of being welcoming to patrons. Being rude is surely one way to lose customers.
As we were still wanting to eat dinner, we decided to patron the Texas Roadhouse right across the highway and arrived by 9:30 pm. While they also close at 10 pm, the reception we received there was completely opposite. We were warmly greeted by the host, and seated promptly with bread. Our waitress then followed and was especially kind and very attentive. We left her a 25% tip, after eating and leaving the restaurant...
Read moreIt was our anniversary, so I was going to treat the wife to one of the high end steakhouses in KC. She had a headache, so wanted to go somewhere closer. I ordered the Porterhouse and she ordered the ribeye. I added on a 4 oz lobster tail, and 4 grilled shrimp. Their pre-meal bread is hot, fresh, and fabulous! Our server was courteous and professional. The Caesar salad was fresh and the dressing was superb. We ordered our steaks medium. Mine was perfect, hers was closer to medium rare. Normally I would have asked them to hit it with a little more heat, but it was clear most of it would be taken home and reheated...so it worked out perfectly. My lobster tail was done to perfection and I would guess was closer to 5 oz. The shrimp was slightly past being perfectly done, but still very good. As it was our Anniversary, the manager asked if she could treat us to dessert. This is my only real complaint about our night... FALSE ADVERTISING! I ordered the Chocolate Stampede. It was advertised as a 2 person dessert. Maybe if the 2 people were offensive linemen for the Chiefs...and they just came for dessert! It was delicious, and with the two scoops of Vanilla bean Ice Cream...had to weigh 2 lbs. If you have a party of 4-6 people...he dessert portion is perfect. We took more than half home. So not truly a complaint. We drink water with our meals (boring, I know) and dessert was free. Our bill came to $82! The place I had originally planned on taking her had steaks that were $56-$120. Would we have noticed a difference in the cut of meat? Probably marginally...but for the service, quality, and price all taken into consideration...Longhorn was a grand slam home run. We had a very memorable...
Read moreVery upset. Arrived and waited 50 min which was ok with us. We had a party of 6. Our tables was so wobbly ( two put together). We finally had to put the wine book under the legs to keep the tables straight. We tipped over a glass of tea and the ice went on the ground and no one seem to care to clean it up. We received the bread and after cutting a piece for everyone I buttered my bread. About to bite into it I saw a piece of hair. I pulled it and it was at least 10 inches long. Everyone was beside themselves and threw the bread down. After telling the waitress she took it away and the manager came back and apologized and brought one loaf back for the whole table. The bread was so hard we could of used it for a hockey puck. Dishes left on the table from the salads. No one came and picked up the bowels. We ordered our steaks and everyone ordered M-well except one which was M-rare. We received our steaks and myself and my son's was so rare we could not stand it. My son had to excuse himself to the bathroom as he has a weak stomach. We sent it back and once we got it back it still was so rare. My son could not even eat it and said I'm done. I eat mine around the edges as it was bleeding inside. We advised the manager and he stated he would take care of it since there was so much that happened on our experience with Longhorn. He took off the employee discount which to my dismay this was not good enough. I was so disappointed and probably will never return to longhorn. My sister also said she will never return. Such a bad experience with no concern from manager. The word has already hit facebook and not pleasant. Someone should of taken...
