Our family of four with two young children stayed for five nights in the whirlpool suite that included a sofa and two queen beds. Check in was smooth and we were even given a choice of free beverage due to being IHG members. There were fresh baked cookies every afternoon and coffee all day in the lobby area. Receptionists and housekeeping were exceptionally polite and went the extra mile to make our stay special. At one point, my young daughter asked if there were going to be cookies upon our return to the room at the end of the day as there were none in the lobby at that time. They actually set some aside for her and put them in a special box just for her which made her whole vacation. Housekeeping at one point left a personal note in the room as to why the bed couldn’t be made (stuffed animals and extra blankets on bed) and apologized for the inconvenience. I was thrilled to see that the whirlpool also had a shower head and the pressure was better than any hotel we have ever stayed. The beds were extremely comfortable and there was a selection of firm or soft pillows on each bed. The layout of the room was a little unusual as the sofa faced the desk so you had to watch tv from the beds but that was of minor concern. The internet was fast, pool was warm, business room efficient but we did not use the fitness center. Our major disappointment was the breakfast variety and staff. It was incredibly cramped in a tiny room and the staff made guests feel unwelcome with an impolite attitude. They were efficient at keeping everything stocked but just made you feel like you were annoying by simply getting food and being in the way. Daily breakfast variety only changed one of the five mornings we were there. Main choices included cheesy omelettes, sausage, and biscuits and gravy. One day there was scrambled eggs and thin ham slices instead. Every day included standard options such as cereal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cinnamon rolls, muffins, toast, juices and milk, and a pancake machine that serves two warm pancakes at the touch of a button. The hotel itself was very clean and in an excellent location. There is a huge variety of dining and shopping options nearby and is cheaper being just outside Kansas City but close enough that it isn’t a hassle to get there. We never had issues with noise from traffic outside or guests in the hotel. If we ever return to the area, this is the hotel we...
Read moreWe stayed in this hotel this past weekend. It was a very clean hotel, I noticed nothing wrong with the cleanliness. The pool area is quite small and there is no hot tub that I saw. There is a fitness room available although I was not able to use it during my stay. We went with another couple who also stayed in a suite. They paid as much as we did and their room did not include a sofa area as ours did. The jacuzzi is not in the room but in the bathroom area instead. You shower in this large jacuzzi which was strange to me as there was no place to set your toiletries while bathing. The bathroom area is also quite small as in a standard bathroom area with an oversized tub. The room also has some pretty poor lighting and was quite dark. The only extra light available was to open the curtains and let everyone in the parking lot have the ability to peer into the room, no thanks. The suite, room 100, that we stayed in has a really noisy air conditioner that kicks on and off with a loud noise that woke me up about every half hour throughout the night. I was not able to get much sleep at all, although the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was very good and the ladies working the kitchen area did a splendid job with cleanliness and stocking good options.
Most Holiday Inn's offer complimentary cookies in the evening, this one did not offer any. I asked the front desk and they laughed and told me that they were all out because the staff ate them all. Very disappointing as guests look forward to such luxuries when staying at Holiday Inn. One of the reasons I stayed at this hotel was for the experience of hot cocoa and cookies before bed.
My suggestion would be to install a better air conditioning unit that stays on as a fan option or one that starts and stops without the loud noise several times so that guests can leave the next day well rested instead of exhausted. And if you are going to offer complimentary cookies and such be sure to keep them in stock as guests DO look forward to such experiences....its what sets Holiday Inn apart from other hotels...
Read moreThis was probably the worst Holiday Inn I have stayed at for cleanliness. The room looked like it just been remodeled recently. After the remodel the quality of craftmanship and inspection for quality is horrible.
Grout is left all over the tile floor like it was never mopped up. I actually was able to lay a towel down and wipe it off the tile.
the water stain below the bathroom sink from the sink trap still leaking. Again could clean it up with a simple wipe of a towel.
The dirty hand prints on the shower stall was disgusting to shower in.
Nice new bath tub installed after remodel, to bad it was difficult for the cleaning crew to get the glue off the side of the tub from the sticker. So the glue was just left there.
Shower stall still has pencil marks on the tile from when it was installed. Again simple cleaning would remove these marks.
I have stayed at many Holiday Inn's and under stand how the motorized blinds work. These blind are not even in the track to guide them up and down. Plus when you go to close the blind it bunched up on the bottom of the window. The next morning I wanted to let sun light in and realize the window shade would only open up 1/4 of the way cause it wasn't set properly. The shade actually didn't work at all.
The pillows smelled so bad I didn't even use them.
the TV looked nice hung on the wall with all the wires hanging below it. Guess it was to much to tie them up behind the TV.
Room was now vacuumed very well. Could see dead bugs under the luggage rag under the TV.
Thermostat was new on the wall. Wasn't connected to AC/Heating unit.
Hair dryer that is meant to mounted on the wall was sitting on the counter of the sink. Must of not had time to mount it on the wall?
The shower/ bathtub faucet didn't work correctly. Bath tub would fill up while trying to take a shower.
Again I have stayed at many Holiday Inn's and this was by far the dirtiest I've...
