Our server was very friendly, patient, and helpful when asked about options.
The pakoras were delicious and came with a nice unusually thick tamarind sauce. The onion roti was pretty good with lots of onions, if a little bland, but went nicely with the dishes.
The Gobi Manchurian was breaded deep fried cauliflower which was nice and a little crispy, a little chewy, in a clear red sauce. The mild was still pretty spicy, also sweet, otherwise not quite sure how best to describe it.
We also had a veggie Korma, I love coconut milk but it didn't really seem like a good flavor match in the dish to me, however my dining companion loved it.
Everything was served with a plain rice platter and a small mixed veggie salad of chick peas, cucumbers, and a few other things.
Officially they didn't have any dairy free desserts, but it appears they were working on a small, frozen mango dessert with shredded coconut which they brought out. It was a little something sweet.
We ordered the veggie dinner for two, which was a bit expensive, but came with a pretty good selection of dishes including an appetizer, bread, plain rice, a small side, and two main dishes. Plus generally a dessert.
They had a larger than typical selection of veg dishes in their own section of the menu. It seemed like a bit of an unusual selection, sadly with no eggplant or okra, they didn't seem to have some of the more commonly seen options.
The atmosphere was reasonably nice for a strip mall restaurant. Water was served unceremoniously in broken plastic mugs, and napkins were paper from a table top dispenser, so the impression was definitely not fine dining. But it was nice enough for a pleasant,...
Read moreFood was really good but takeout experience has been very frustrating. We'll get a message saying the food is ready, but then go and find out they haven't even started making it yet, so have to sit in the restaurant or parking lot 30 minutes while they make the food, making it almost an hour since we put in the original order.
Maybe they get a lot of no shows, maybe they were packed, taking a long time is understandable, but the way they handle it really makes the issue worse. When we arrive we'll hear "oh they're just packing it up now, should be soon." When we get piping hot food 30 minutes later, that's not just packing it up. The last time we went they tried to get us to tap the app to say that we had already picked up the food when we hadn't.
Absolutely delicious food prepared in even long-ish time can be 5 stars, if it takes like an hour for a pickup order that might knock it down to 4 stars for me. But saying food is ready when it isn't and trying to get the customer to lie to the app, that really crossed a line for me.
Dine in, or just call to place the takeout order, or call to check up on it. It's really great food, just had a couple really bad experiences trying to...
Read moreWe decided to try Seva, even though it's a bit of a drive for us, because of the reviews. And it lived up to it's hype! Pretty busy around noon on Sunday, but we were still seated immediately. Asked the waitress about vegan options on the buffet and she didn't know, but gave me a menu to order from and pointed out the vegan options on it. But then the owner came over and showed me which items on the buffet were vegan, AND offered to make me an additional entree from the menu complimentary!
On the buffet, the vegan options were rice, vegetable pakora, daal, and aloo gobi. They also made me a vegan squash dish from the menu and some roti (as the naan is not vegan). We paid $13 each for the lunch buffet (I think weekend prices are different from weekday). Everything I had was phenomenal! I've never had squash at an Indian restaurant before, and it was spiced well with a hint of sweetness that I loved.
The owner stopped by a few times to see how everything was, and the waitress never let our water glasses get low.
I can't wait to go back to try the rest of...
