6AM Came in excited for some donuts and sausage rolls... didn't notice any sausage rolls, so I asked, and what I'm assuming was the owner, somewhat rudely, said, "we don't have anything meat. "... as if I annoyed her for asking such a stupid question?? So that was awkward. Are kolaches not a thing up in Missouri? Even so, the response was still off.
Anytime I've gone into a donut shop at 6 AM, it's a pretty busy place, with people prepping, cooking, and stocking donuts... this place was dead. It looked like they were done baking. If they had even baked anything at all this morning, idk, and it was a very cold and somewhat dark atmosphere.
I ordered a mixture of glazed and chocolate glazed donut holes... the chocolate was actually a chocolate battered hole with normal glaze... not what I'm used to. (Normal hole with a chocolate glazed on top), and it wasn't as good either... the chocolate flavor was lacking.
Old fashioned buttermilk donuts are my favorite... so I ordered two of those that they had labeled "old-fashioned sour cream." These were incredibly heavy, dense, HARD, stale, and honestly, just not even sweet. The outside was like a rock, and the inside was so stale and crumbly that I couldn't even finish it. Absolutely not fresh, and I'd bet they weren't even made in the past couple of days.
Very disappointing all around. I won't be back. Donuts...
Read moreJust the cutest, freshest donut shop you can ask for! I tried Ray's donuts for the first time this morning and they are to die for. Ray's donuts has every style, flavor, and shape of donut you're looking for and oh my goodness they are soft and SO tasty! I got a Classic Glazed, Blueberry Cake, and Chocolate on Chocolate Cruller. They offer a large variety of beverages like milks, gatorade, and juices as well as a coffee station for fresh ground coffees or cappuccinos so you can stay for a bite or grab a dozen for the road. They also offer Uber Eats and Door Dash so you don't have to leave the house to enjoy a pleasant morning with donuts for the family!
The woman who helped me was very kind and helpful as I decided what to get. She was so friendly with every guest that came in and had just worked a long shift for the holiday (Labor Day) the day before but still had a positive, upbeat attitude. The art as well as the customer service at Ray's makes it a very homey, local place to want to be! I especially loved all of the donut themed artwork on the walls, the dedicated wall of photos of the owner's family members, and the iconic parade scene following Kansas City's MLB Royals World Series and Chief's Superbowl win.
Would definitely recommend and now I have a donut shop in mind to go...
Read moreI called ahead to order 6 dozen holes. I was told “That’s $12 worth of donuts.” A co-worker was with me when I called. I walk in, wait behind 2 customers, owner starts my additional order of 18 donuts when a regular customer walks in behind me. Owner greets her, confirms what she wants, stops my order and fills hers. I ask her to finish mine first. She tells me “I have ears and can multi task, I’ll fill it all at once.” I said never mind, I’ll just take the holes. She was quite snarky at my request to fill my order first. I said clearly the lady behind me is a regular and more important since you stopped my order and filled hers first. She said “I didn’t do that.” I’m not sure what she calls that then. I look at my receipt and realize I was charged $15, not $12. I said I was quoted $12. The owner said “I said it would be about $12.” Ok, no you didn’t, but as the owner, you don’t know how much 6 dozen holes will be? Current and previous workers confirm if you are a regular she tries to be nice. If you aren’t and you question anything, she is extremely rude and does not care about...
