Subway — Restaurant in Kansas City

I was walking around Zona Rosa before a doctor appointment yesterday, had a coupon for a 6.49 meal. Happily walked in here, place completely empty and when she finally came out of the back room, I felt like I was interrupting something.. she asked me what kind of sandwich three times after I told her the bread type with roast beef, then when I took out the coupon she said: we don't take that for roast beef, I looked at the details and there were some sandwiches It wasn't good for, but plain roast beef wasn't one. I said no just plain roast beef with some veggies, she snatched my coupon and stared at it for several seconds and said the coupon wasn't good for it. So it wasn't that they didn't take coupons, she was just making it up as she went for whatever reason. I took my coupon and left without saying a word and she was still saying something rude,,, ended up at 54th Street, The kids Smashburger with coleslaw, full size burger delicious! for 7 bucks! Would never go into this...

We have been in before and chose to give them the benefit of the doubt with the fruit flies because it was summer. But we went it today and it was ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. The counters were dirty (not just from the day and I worked at one a lig time ago so I can talk about it) the soda machine has mold down below, the boy who made the sandwiches had such bad dandruff it could have just fell in a sandwich. They had breast made and sitting out with those basket things sitting ON TOP of the bread that they would eventually serve to customers. The food containers were gross and used up and not replaced. The sink behind the counter guy was gross and obviously NOT cleaned for a long time. It is NOT being taken care of and it's absolutely obvious how gross and downhill it's gone. Save yourself the illness and go somewhere else. Also the kid behind the counter was RUDE and slow and there was another worker hiring in the back...

I don't mind communication challenges when there is a polite acknowledgement and some understanding but when you can't understand English and then get mad at our family for your error when you screw up the sandwish it is uncalled for. Food was ok at best but both servers were rude and unable (or unwilling) to communicate professionally or kindly. If it hadn't been for hungry kids I'd have left the food and walked out. Go somewhere else and save yourself the unpleasant experience. Plenty of other options in the area and Firehouse subs is great only a couple minutes away. Also, prices are higher than typical subway prices! Footlong meal, six inch meal, few cookies was over 30 and hygienic food handling standards are lacking...
