Not gonna lie, it's a good place. Most of these reviews don't take account what we can compare Thou Mayest to in the KC area. Yes they're open late Thu-Sat, yes they're a bar as well, and yes the interior is very trendy and hipster-esque. It really has all the essentials for a trendy, local small business and I will keep doing business here in the future. However, the coffee was good, but extremely inconsistent. Sometimes I would get quality batches, others I would get sour and bitter pours that looked fast or slow while watching the pour over. The espresso I've had was good at best, and sour when not done right. Their roasting quality was alright, but when you compare the quality of coffee to some other places in the area (Oddly Correct, PTs Coffee, Benetti's, Broadway,) the coffee here starts to underwhelm you. They're a young place and I look forward to seeing them improve in the future. I give Thou Mayest a 3 for the coffee, a 4 for the atmosphere, and a 5 for the location. I came to this place for the coffee, and was slightly disappointed. Would recommend to someone not as picky and over analyzing as I am. The cocktails are...
Read moreThe amount of times that I go into thou mayest, spend $10+ dollars, and sit down to get some work done, just for the wifi to not be working, is getting pretty ridiculous. This has been going on for the past year at least, so I think I'm done going to Thou Mayest which sucks cause I'm a regular and live in the neighborhood. Here's the issue (hopefully the owners read these): on random days, the Wifi will appear as WPA2 secure (has the lock icon next to the Wifi name on a Mac) instead of Open (doesn't have the lock icon next to it), which makes it impossible to join even with the password. Restarting the computer, running diagnostics, nothing has worked. It just randomly decides to work/not work. I suggest simply switching Wifi providers, because I've heard other people complain about the same thing at Thou Mayest, and I've never seen this issue at any other coffee...
Read moreHip place in the Grinders east crossroad area that I recently visited and had 2 caffeinated beverages. My first was a latte that was strong and had a fine crema. I tried to drink it without sweetener however it was too strong for me so I had a couple of shakes of raw sugar. I could only find natural sweeteners, honey and raw sugar. I wondered where the stevia was.
My second drink was an iced latte with caramel syrup with a modest amount of ice. This was delicious with just the right amount of coffee, caramel flavour and sweetness.
I sat at the counter, close to their espresso machine which allowed me to engage in banter with the baristas and some customers as the pick up point was to my left. Business was brisk with a wide variety of drinks being served.
I enjoyed my 30-40 minutes here and certainly would go back to try some of their...
