To the Hoop Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Kansas City

I laid in the breezeway of an I-70 truck weigh station, having found 10 sq ft of shade, while surviving I-70 at 110° F, on a motorcycle for hours! I Googled "cold beer near me" got the strength to ride to the next exit and within a few blocks, I walked into what seemed heaven! I was greeted by an angel 😇, who could see the heat fatigue in our faces and made us clean, cold, wet towels, for our necks. Even kept us from passing out or puking, by giving us the 'writst first' advice, for applying a cold towel to an overheated body. I can't praise her enough! She served up some ice cold beers as well and after the place filled up, we were filled up, with some top shelf delicious pork chops! The sun had begin to set and folks were now able to enjoy a large fan outside. We got to see the sunset over the plains... a perfect spontaneous gift out of what started out as...

My husband and dropped our son off at the skate rink and we were looking to stay nearby when we came across this gem. We were there at 8p on a Friday night. There was a nice little crowd when we arrived. The bartender was very attentive, the drinks were on point and the space was clean. It was a grown folks type of vibe, no drama, just everyone having a good time. Drinking, chatting and 2 stepping to some old school jams. The other customers made us feel right at home by chatting with us and buying us drinks The owner welcomed us with shots as well. 4/30/2023. Living in the neighborhood, we decided Hoops would be a good choice for a quick late night beer and snack. My girlfriend and I walked from our home approximately 0.7 miles away incase we had one or two too many. When we arrived we saw a crude makeshift sign, appearing to have been written in crayon reading “35 & up”. Feeling unwelcome due to being 28, we turn around and made the walk home highly disappointed. I’m glad a local establishment is thriving to well it is able to be age exclusive and age discriminative.
