Delicious food and wine. Our waiter was excellent. That being said, we walked in and there were two open seats at the bar. The hostess moved to seat us at the bar, and the bar tender yelled at her - “take them to the basement! Take them to the basement!”
Mind you, we were the only people of color in the entire restaurant. Can you see maybe how that would be perceived even a little bit, in bad taste? I live right down the street in Brookside and I felt very out of place - that kind of reaction didn’t help whatsoever. Our money spends just as well as the anyone else. Bar tender claimed it was because he was very busy and wouldn’t provide good service, but that makes no sense. If the seats are available - then the seats are available. I was polite and opted to go to “the basement” to have our meal in a tiny cellar with no windows, since that seemed to make him more comfortable. It was not the atmosphere I wanted but I certainly didn’t want to be served by a bar tender who didn’t want to serve us.
People of color, be cautious in this area - though, the experience is to be expected in a place like Crestwood shops I was hoping for better, as I’m never made to feel less-than at Axios. That being said - our service downstairs was good and the food and drink was excellent. Thank you to the service gentleman who did make us feel welcome and like we...
Read moreMy first impression of your bar last night was odd to say the least. We walked in and were told by a man that he would “highly advise we leave” because a very large party had just come in right before us. There were open seats at the bar and the rail, which you advertise to be open for walk ins. We were told we could sit there, but it might take “an hour and a half” to get drinks. Despite the off putting greeting, we took a chance and sat at the open bar seats. Your lovely bartender served us in under 5 minutes. Several “regulars” that came in after us were greeted much differently, with open arms. It seems you need to be a regular to receive high quality service. Kudos to your bar staff for being hospitable, but front of house staff could...
Read moreVita’s Place is just amazing. You walk in and feel like you’re grabbing drinks at a family reunion. It’s cozy and welcoming. The food is absolutely delicious and unique. My mouth is watering thinking about their homemade focaccia! But the staff. That’s why this place is so amazing. They are like meeting with a good friend you haven’t seen in a while. The bartenders and the owner make this place what it is. They are so kind and take a personal interest in you. Hospitality is most definitely their strong suit. They have a wide array of wines but their cocktails are just as delicious! And the music? Come on, 5 stars just...
