When anyone has an attitude with me or makes me feel unwelcome, I make it a point to never cross their paths ever again. With that being said, the braiders do a good job on the styles they are experts on box braids, knotless, bantu knots, corn row styles etc. However, the customer service needs lots of work. Yesterday, I went to get bantu knots the lady who did them put in a lot of work and time on my style and I love them. She also did my hair previously in a beautiful long braided corn row style. Loved it. However, the customer service is not good in my opinion. First of all, after my hair was braided I had to find who to pay. The owner asked me 'what price was I quoted?' I told her the price, but I think personally they should already know the price and not ask the customer what price was quoted to them. Then because I appreciate the work they do (I know it can be challenging doing braid work with standing up on your feet, doing the same styles over and over again)I gave a tip of $10. The owner had her daughter take the tip, but she(the daughter) had an attitude. Instead of saying "Thank you, please return we appreciate your business" she was like, "uh huh" when I gave her the tip. Then before that, after my braider completed my style, they had another young lady come to do my edges(at my request). The person just approached me, no greetings of "hi" or anything I didn't even know she was the one who would do my edges. In my opinion, the vibes I picked up from her were of an 'attitude' nature and not a positive one at that. Another issue I have is, I am very proud of my African heritage, yes I'm 'American,' but I love exploring other African hairstyles not just long braids. I felt the ladies had an attitude because I ''dare' chose a traditional and cultural style. I need a braiding shop (if I don't learn to just do styles myself)where I am welcomed, the energy is positive and they encourage customers who wish to 'venture out' and try other styles other than just long braids(I love long braids too). Another thing, there are way too many options for customers to turn to if they want their hair braided. There are other braiding salons ran by Africans and African Americans who also have skilled braiders. There are individuals who braid their own hair and other people's hair as well. There are YouTube tutorials to teach people how to braid their hair. There are braided and faux locs wigs you can install on your heads, etc etc. They should welcome customers in a way that says, "we know you have other options, but you chose us!" Welcome! Throughout the visit not just when we enter or leave. In summary, they are excellent braiders, but need work on the customer service big time. Those who are 'shy' and have negative attitudes who work for her need to maybe work away from customers. P.S. they should be more open to share their culture by playing child appropriate movies, music in their shop. Maybe sell jewelry, hair ornaments, hang up pictures of current and more culturally traditional African braid styles on the wall. Make it a learning experience as well as a beautifying experience. Some AAs have not had a lot of exposure to African culture so it is up to them to make stopping in their salon a 'lowkey' teachable moment. I will not be stopping by their shop again, but for those who do, keep in mind what I wrote above. Sorry, for the length I am passionate...
Read more⚠️ Warning About This Braid Shop – Please Read Before Booking ⚠️ Ladies, I want to share my extremely disappointing experience at this braid shop to help others avoid what I went through. I visited the salon on September 6th, from 8 AM to 1:15 PM. I was excited to get knotless boho braids with curly ends. I showed the owner, Nicole, a picture of exactly what I wanted and was quoted $220, which I agreed to. After being seated, two stylists were assigned to me. I explained again that I did not want a bob-style, since my hair is longer than that, and I wanted to keep the length. One of the stylists, Jessica, acknowledged and said “OK,” so I believed we were on the same page. Unfortunately, the final result was a nightmare. When I got home, I discovered that the back of my hair had been CUT, and the style was not what I requested. The front looked decent, but the back was chopped and uneven. There were few opportunities during the appointment to check the work — the mirrors were dirty, and the handheld mirror they provided was smeared with gel, making it nearly impossible to see clearly. It felt intentional, like they didn’t want me to notice the mistakes. When I called the salon to address the issue, I was told to come back for a 30-minute fix. I informed them I was on a tight schedule due to work, but still made time to return. What should’ve been 30 minutes turned into 2 hours, making me 30 minutes late for work, and I still left with my hair unfinished and not corrected. To make matters worse, the owner denied that my hair was cut and refused to take accountability. I later followed up via text requesting a refund, and I was completely ignored. This experience was heartbreaking. Not only was my hair damaged, but I left feeling disrespected, dismissed, and completely dissatisfied. I will not be returning and do not recommend this salon to anyone who values their time, money, or hair health. I am sharing this review to protect other women from experiencing what I did. I am also considering further actions due to the unprofessionalism I...
Read moreI came in the day before to make an appointment, found out it's first come first serve and to come back when they open.
I arrived the next day at 8:15 am and my service was done at 7:15 pm. The time to get it done was ways less than the time I spent. They took other walk ins while I was sitting and waiting with part of my hair braided. Fortunately, I cleared my schedule to be able to get my hair done.
The clients that come in first should be finished before accepting other business. Actually, if it only takes 5 hours to braid one head, then the 8 am customer should only be there until 1-2 pm tops and the other walk in clients should be seen after 1-2 pm and the braiders should be given a break between finishing the 8 am people and accepting smaller jobs.
It takes me less time to make the $200 than it does to spend it with them.
I heard a dispute between a customer and braider, then Owner that was unacceptable. If you (customer) do not want your edges braided, then separate the hair you don't want braided by parting it and gel it down and tell them to stay behind the line. Otherwise, how will they know what you expect to be braided and what should not by your standards.
When you argue with a "racist" then your "racisms" peek through. I was offended by both the customer telling the owner to go back to Africa and by the Owner telling the customer she doesn't know where she came from. Bottom line the powers that be don't like either one of us! They can deal with the African's direct from Africa because they don't carry the trauma of the descendants of the stolen Africans/Indigenous people of the Americas until they experience the WS themselves. Keep living here and you will…
I don't have another 11 hours to waste for a 5 hour job. I may or may not try again. I was trying to support black owned businesses, but the foolishness I experienced in that area where I do not live is why I do...
