Let it be known that I absolutely adore this library and the staff that work within the building. However... Whoever manages the parking lot, I'm convinced, has malicious intent and hateful bias toward students. While I was a student at UMKC, I designated most of my study time to study in this building. During my single semester I had received zero notices about breaking Linda Hall Library's rules about parking in their parking lot when I strictly only used the facility and never while I attended class. One day after leaving the library I had PERMANENT sticker placed on my driver's side window expressing intent to tow me if I ever parked on their property again ALSO I was locked inside a segment of a parking lot so that I was unable to drive home without the assistance of maintenance to unlock the chained barrier. The maintenance worker unlocked the gate and proceeded took a razor blade to my window for over half an hour and yet, still the remnants of the sticker remained. I was furious. The very same maintenance man that assisted me in removing the sticker was the same person who went around to each person within the library just moments prior to inform every one of the library’s upcoming closure for the night. I, being a face he recognized from said rounds, was immediately assisted since he knew the employee in charge of monitoring the parking lot was clearly inaccurate. I have resisted ever returning to this library in fear of my car being unjustly towed… I even acquired information to become an employee here because the facility is so attractive and fantastic. Shame on the parking lot monitors for ruining this “safe” haven for me…
*Notice how the owners never responded for their prejudice against a student that appreciated their library… says a quite a bit after 3 years doesn’t it? Shameful...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Linda Hall Library in Kansas City, and I must say that it exceeded all my expectations. This library is truly a hidden gem in the heart of the city, and I can't give it anything less than a 5-star review.
From the moment I stepped inside, I was impressed by the stunning architecture and the serene atmosphere. The library's historic building is a work of art in itself, and it sets the stage for an incredible intellectual journey.
The collection of books and resources at Linda Hall Library is nothing short of remarkable. Whether you're a student, a researcher, or just a curious individual, you'll find an extensive range of materials covering various subjects. Their dedication to science, technology, and engineering is evident in their vast collection of rare books, journals, and manuscripts. I was particularly impressed by their Special Collections, which house some of the most valuable and unique documents in the world.
The staff at Linda Hall Library are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. They go above and beyond to assist visitors in finding the information they need. Whether you're seeking research guidance or simply looking for a quiet place to study, their friendly and attentive staff is always ready to assist.
One of the highlights of my visit was the beautiful reading rooms. These elegant spaces provide the perfect environment for focused study and research. The natural light streaming in through the large windows adds to the overall ambiance.

Read moreWhat a fantastic library!
I’ve been wanting to come to the Life Beyond Earth exhibition since it opened in October 2024. I got here near the end of April in 2025. It closes in June. Glad I made it!
This exhibition does a great job of covering a lot about outer space, including, but not limited to, aliens, exoplanets, UFOs, astrobiology and exobiology. There are various displays throughout the rooms covering astronomy, the history of observation of space from the Renaissance, all the way up to the Tic Tac and Gimble UAPs.
There’s also a very nice display about historical cookbooks and different recipes used early in the 20th century and by various branches of the US military to feed their troops.
Everyone working here was very kind and welcoming. There is free parking directly in front of the library for patrons, not for students.
Just FYI, the Linda Hall Library is on the...
