Akashi — Restaurant in Katy

Today I had my lunch at this restaurant. It was our favorite restaurant to this day.

They took a while to come to the table to place our order. The waitress who served us was very rude from the start. My mom was ordering her drink and without saying anything she turned around and left her with the word in her mouth.

After a good moment she returned and in a haughty way she asked us about the order almost without letting us speak. When she arrived with the order, she literally "threw" our drinks and soups on the table so that we could pass them ourselves, and she did the same with the main dish, so rudely that she almost knocked over one of the plates on my mom.

Unfortunately, I wanted to speak to the manager, but there was no one at the front desk, so we paid, leaving a low tip due to the poor service and treatment.

This lady, if she can be called that, went looking for us in the parking lot and when she saw my son, she complained to him, saying that as a waitress she received a salary from the tips. My son agreed telling her that he is also a waiter and that he must give a good service, she asked him about me and unfortunately I had already left... what did that "lady" want? force me to pay her a full tip for a bad service? yell at me in the street? What baseness and what little education that "lady" has. If she is so sure of receiving a tip of 10, 15 or 20 dollars, she should do her best in the service, just as her work is worth it, so is mine and that is why I want to invest my money in a good service, a situation that today is not happened.

Akashi was one of our favorite restaurants and we always left very good tips, today was the exception and they have lost regular customers.

I’ve visited this restaurant a few times over the past few years, and it’s always a consistently solid experience. The food comes out quickly, and the portion sizes are generous—definitely a good value for the price.

While they don’t have a designated kids’ menu, they’re happy to accommodate children with options like vegetable or chicken lo mein, which is great if you’re dining with little ones.

The pork dumplings are a standout appetizer—flavorful and just the right portion to share. They also offer a wide variety of sushi, bento boxes, and other Asian-inspired appetizers, so there’s something for everyone.

The setting is casual with low lighting, which makes it feel relaxed but still inviting. Service is excellent—staff are attentive and quick, and they always offer to package up leftovers for you.

I really enjoyed the hot and sour soup, one of my favorites. My only critique would be the amount of tofu—I would’ve liked to see larger or more generous pieces, similar to what I’ve received at other restaurants.

Parking can be a bit limited since it’s located in a shopping strip shared with other businesses, but that’s the only real inconvenience.

This had been by far the worst experience ever in a restaurant… server was very rude. When we were trying to order she was not even courteous enough to listen… when she was serving the drinks and plates she threw them in the table. Soups spilled all over the place and she didn’t even offered to clean. We asked for a knife and she came with Two knifes and threw them in the table. One of my friend didn’t even want to taste the soup because the server put her nail inside of the soup while throwing it in the table. I told the server that I didn’t wanted soup and she started yelling at me saying that it was included in the order of the plate and she said gave it to one of your friends! At the end; we were not even done eating and she started telling us that we needed to pay because they were going to close earlier. With all of this we gave her just a few dollars for tips just so realized the kind of service that she was providing and she got mad for that and started yelling at us again!
