Bao Bao Banh Mi — Restaurant in Katy

An accidental find. Was at Katy Asia town for boba tea. Found myself craving a banh mi Xiu Mai and this place was close by. Facility is nice and clean, staff was super friendly! I forgot to grab straws from the boba tea place and asked them if I could buy 3, the register person smiled and said don’t worry about it and gave them to me. I got my food and left. In my car, I break open the sandwich, took a bite and was amazed. Baguette was perfect, chewy inside, crisp outside, the Xiu Mai taste like they just made it! Veggies exploding out the sandwich! And they didn’t skim on the meat like other banh mi shops. Half filled me up, saving the other half for dinner. Talk about perfection! Def must try if you haven’t been! The gentleman who took our order ( I apologize that I didn't catch his name :( ) was very kind and patient. and he went out of his way to give us the extra of our strawberry milk smoothie into a small cup so it wouldn't go to waste. Overall, our meal was delicious and satisfying and fulfilling. We ordered a lemongrass pork banh mi, one chicken katsu bao, lemongrass pork bao, braised pork belly bao and bulgogi beef fries. All of which I would totally get again. Even the boba pearls were fresh and warm when drinking our strawberry milk smoothie. None of the food taste dry or off. Very fresh. The pork belly was delicately braised when you take a bite from it. Chicken katsu perfectly fried and delicious. The lemongrass pork was phenomenal and I enjoyed the lemongrass flavour immensely.

They opened a 2nd location that’s closer to my new house! My wife and I got the Lemongrass pork banh mi, Bao’s street corn, popcorn chicken, lychee green tea, and thai green tea.

Banh mi: Bread was crispy but not gum shredding, the meat was tender and flavorful! They make their own pickled vegetables, butter and pate in house so you can definitely taste the homemade love

Popcorn chicken: I ALWAYS get popcorn chicken at every boba shop but this place takes the cake, super crunchy and juicy.

Street corn: Although I wish they had a bit more lime and mayo, it was cheesy and hit the right spot on a hot Texas day

Lychee green tea: PERFECT for any time especially this summer heat. The tea flavor profile doesn’t overpower the lychee flavor

Thai green tea: what’s not to love about Thai tea!
