So, I moved to Katy 16 years ago and having China town so close I was spoiled with all Asian restuarants. Pho Saigon is good standard out here but with Asia Town so close to me I have slowly been trying restuarants there since its closer to home. I called last night and placed an order for Com Bo Luc Luc and some Banh Mi sandwiches and viet eggrolls! Surprisingly On Wednesday they make Chicken and Pork Sandwiches (No beef) as part of a Happy Hour Special. I was helped by a sweet young girl named San on the phone and when questioned she didnt make stuff up but asked her boss to answer me correctly. She came on phone and told me what they put, made a request for more mayo and japs on side, ordered 2 Pork. Their Com Bo Luc Luc is called "Shaking Beef" with White Rice or Fried Rice for $2 more. I ordered a plate with fried rice and 2 orders of 2 pork rolls! I thought it was in the main strip but its actually on the quieter side right across from Andretti Racing! More parking and way less traffic over there. I walk in and surprised to see a bar and people sittingnand relaxing with beer and wine! I was like "That's cool! I was greeted away by the young San who took my order with a Big Smile On her face. When I told her I had a to go order she repeated my name and what I had! Great! Sat at bar and ordered a beer. Most of their beer is Local and IPA! Ordered a beer and bartender poured a delicious pint. It was $6 and I paid for food and beer upfront and enjoyed my beer and chit chat from San who asked if it was my first time. I said it was then owner came by and thanked for business. She found out that I was charged $3 too much for the beer since it was Happy Hour (I didn't know nor care because beer was great) but she refunded me the over charge with cash which I added to the tip for San! Got home and food was very hot and fresh! Eggrolls were dynamite and fresh with better flava for a playa. I mix my Sriracha and hoysun (mispelled Im sure) together with the eggroll sauce. The sauce with eggroll tastes great by itself and seems different from other restuarants. I normally get beef banh mi everywhere I go but I had their pork and wife and I thought they were fabulous! The shaking beef with fried rice was also phenomenal! Beef was tender and seared correctly with wonderful flavor. Didnt need the salt/pepper/lime. I dipped in my special mix and was delish! The rice was so fluffy, soft and great! Fresh made and I poured some juice from the beef in the container on the rice on my plate! Overall wonderful food that WASN'T overpriced, great service, great packing of food with all utensils and they even ask what sauces on side, nice atmospehere when I sat down with 5 different people at the bar, 4 tables in the dining area. Wish I could have enjoyed another beer but my food was make very quickly which I will never complain about! I told them how nice it was and I volunteered a review AFTER food was eaten and processed. No issues so here is the post. I will be back and will soon try the whole menu! Ya'll give this family...

They always have a craft beer selection that we like and they also have crowlers (they'll fill cans of their craft beer selections for you to take to-go; as many or as few as you'd like.) Last time we took a 6 pack of crowlers of 6 different craft beer selections to-go (they do give tastes, btw) and drank them at home while we watched movies. It was nice not having to stop by the grocery store. Their beer and food prices are both really good, and they also have specials. Their food is fresh and flavorful; they have the best fish sauce wings I've ever had. They're crisp, salty, fishy and addictive! (Get them spicy with some extra fish sauce on the side; its not really spicy as in "hot", just extra flavorful.) We like to start off with some of their $2 grilled skewers and their seafood egg rolls. For our main meals we usually get the Shaking Beef and the combination fried rice, and usually another order of wings! (I do wish they'd bring back the Filet Mignon skewer with grilled veg; so good!) This place is a bit tucked away; I think you have to be looking for it to find it. But now that we've found it we are hooked! MARCH 2020: :Went there for lunch Saturday (first visit.) Very clean, attractive decor, comfortable seating. Staff and owner super nice and attentive. Gave out free Bath & Body Works mini germ gel if you spent at least $10. We had fish sauce wings (so good!) Filet mignon skewer with grilled veg (fresh, well seasoned, juicy, very tasty) Shrimp and pork fried rice (large portion, big fresh shrimp cooked perfectly, pork was tender and overall very tasty fried rice.) Small collection of really good local craft beers on draft. I had Lone Pint Yellow Rose (my favorite!) My husband tried 2 selections from Baa Baa Brewhouse (Mutton Hops and Brewtiful Day, both very good NEIPAs but Brewtiful the better of the 2, IMO.) Unique coasters that were not only pretty but also actually kept the condensation off of the table. A really enjoyable lunch, and even though it's not close to where we live, we are definitely going back. This place is a bit tucked away, and I'm not sure we would have ever seen it if we hadn't been actively looking for it (we had read the good reviews and wanted to try it.) Their website is under construction so if you want to see their current menu and beer selections you need to look on their Facebook page. Go there asap and maybe you'll even get the treat of a free small germ gel (if they...
Read moreMyself and my family have been coming to Corner 99 since it opened. We can order off the menu without even looking because we all know exactly what we’ve come for. Over time I’ve felt as though I may have been overreacting but our last visit solidified that we won’t be back. Cleanliness and sanitation is of the utmost importance when I’m out dining with my family. There’s no telling what happens in the kitchen but we of course can see what happens otherwise.
One waiter that has been there a while has consistently bad dandruff. I let it go initially because he didn’t serve us our food but in the back of my mind it was unsettling to think that could be flying into the food.
This past Sunday we went and the man serving our food put a dish on the table and proceeded to sniff and wipe his nose with his hands before taking so much as a step back from the table. Not just a one off, repeatedly. I counted 3 times. He then proceeded to wipe his nose with his shirt and pick at his nose as he went to grab a cup of hot water I requested. He also got on his phone and took a call only to go back serving. My husband politely asked him to return the cup and wash his hands to which he obliged. That did it for me though. I was absolutely disgusted.
That hot water was requested because we soak our silverware due to it coming in this community box that sits on the tables now instead of individually distributed utensils. This done in order to enjoy a place we’ve come to from the beginning but it’s just not worth it at this point. Hopefully some training will take place and more sanitary practices will begin for their current and future customers. They deserve at minimum, that. We, unfortunately, won’t be back.
To be clear, I did ask for the manager but was told they left after a large party was served...
