Let me start by saying I was so excited to eat Dominican food finally but.....I don't think I will ever eat there again this is not true authentic Dominican food I'm really disappointed because this is a poor representation of what Dominican food really taste like .....I had the mofongo with pork which left me in shock because it was so so dry with way to much garlic the meat was hard like rocks and the taste was not fresh at all I couldn't even swallow my food it was so tough so I ended up throwing it away. They also didn't give the sauce that goes with the mofongo !!! I also tried the bistec encebollado and that too was not good they put to much oregano that you couldn't even enjoy the taste of the meat. The white rice was good but the beans was horrible it had no taste and definitely no Dominican flavor. The chicharrón de pollo was just ok nothing to talk about cause it was bland. I must day that the prices for the food was a bit much which I wouldn't care if the food was amazing but it really wasn't. I was super excited to go cause finally some Caribbean food!!! but this restaurant was a flop. I don't think I will ever go there again! They possibly need to change the cook as well cause the cook did not represent the Dominican Republic at all. Sorry guys but if you want good Dominican food this is not the place!!!!! Try other spots and I'm sure you will have a better experience. El Sabor Caribeño R.D. is a big NO NO for me. If anybody knows of any other Dominican restaurants please...
Read moreI really want to support this place and I will give them another try. So far I've tried 2 times but they still have areas for improvement. Rice was cold, portion size too small for the price, goat was dry more bone than meat no seasoning, oxtail no seasoning very watery, only 4 small pieces 😔, pastel en hoja was frozen inside, waitress were very slow. Everyone was nice and had a great personality. I understand they are new and have to understand the business in order to be more efficient, but I'm giving my honest review so they can fix what's missing so they can be successful. So I will try them again in a month or so. Hopefully they take my advice 🙏🏾.
Also on my last visit for my to go order. The employee decided to tip herself without my permission on my credit card as I saw my receipt. But I didn't make it known as maybe she really needed it so Iet it go. But that should never happen. I'm not snitching on who did it but they should talk to their employees about doing things like this because it's not good...
Read moreThis place exceeded any expectations I had! We’re new to Texas and one thing we miss more than anything coming from NYC is authentic Dominican food.
From the moment you walk in there’s a replica of what a typical house in DR looks like; and honestly coulda have been mama’s front door— and hear bachata playing subtly in the background and all the delicious smells of some great food!
You can tell that the owner is a chef who truly cares about sharing this amazing cuisine with the people. We had mofongo con camrarones, and bistek con habichuelas y arroz blanco. It was honestly so good it brought me to tears. The authenticity and quality is by far the best restaurant of any cuisine we’ve had in Houston. Not to my surprise he was actually in the back overseeing the quality of food coming out of the kitchen!
I was honestly amazed and can’t wait for our family to visit from NYC and DR to take them here! We will 1000% be back and telling all our friends! Thank you El Sabor Caribeño, we honestly finally feel like...
