I have been eating at Shipley Don-Nuts since my father began taking me as a little boy. I have eaten at nearly a hundred different locations over my lifetime. This location was by far the worst and a true embarrassment to the chain. I ordered two glazed donuts on a Sunday morning and received two cold donuts that tasted as if they were four or five hours old. At a Shipley's they are known for serving hot right out of the fryer deliciously moist donuts especially in the early morning and on a Sunday. The store was busy so there is absolutely no reason to be serving cold glazed donuts.
My wife ordered a bear claw and the size was half that of every other location in the city. A bear claw is the same size as an apple fritter or large cinnamon roll, but this bear claw was the size of a cinnamon twist. My wife also gets the refilled coffee cups you can purchase. At other locations they fill the cup, here the coffee was 3/4 filled at best. I am guessing the owner has taught the bakers and servers to reduce the size of everything to save money, and again this is an embarrassment to the chain.
While there we also asked if they made the Crunchy Cake style donuts that we would buy in Missouri City on a regular basis. They however said no. The customer service was uninviting, the donuts horrible for a Shipley's, and we won't be going back. We will instead utilize the one on Mason and never return.
If you want a real Shipley's experience please do not visit this location until the owner makes some serious changes, or at minimum Shipley's gets involved because this location is the worst I have ever visited in my lifetime. Even my wife said it was horrible and she will eat a week old donut...
Read moreI am a Texan in Katy Texas. Therefore I love Shipley Do-Nuts. Every flavor and type are delicious. However, their plain old raised glazed do-nut early in the morning, still warm, only cool enough that the glaze is not too sticky, is better than almost anything early in the morning. Further, I love Shipley Kolaches. I know they are not really kolaches. Yes, they are really pigs-in-a-blanket, But those smoked sausage piggies, yummy cheese and my favorite - fresh jalapenos are like dying and going to... Texas of course. The atmosphere is... well its a donut shop - In Texas. Excellent! Service is very good, except for early morning, especially on the weekends, there is no way you get in and out without waiting a little while to get to the front of the line, Not bad service, just great do-nuts. Shipley is why Krispy Kreme has tried twice and failed to succeed in the Houston market. I didn't hate Krispy Kreme, but I always feared going into a diabetic coma when I'd eat one, and I'm not diabetic. Too sweet!! Shipley's is...
