I really wanted to love this place because the service and atmosphere were amazing. The staff was friendly, attentive, and welcoming, and the restaurant itself had a nice vibe that made me excited to try the food. Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing, especially as someone from Trinidad who was looking forward to a taste of home.
The curry was watered down and lacked the rich, bold flavor it’s supposed to have. The goat had absolutely no seasoning, and the pumpkin was bland — it tasted like baby food with no spice or flavor. The doubles also needed more seasoning to really bring them to life. The only thing I truly enjoyed was the mango.
I’m not trying to bash this restaurant because I can see the effort in the service and the presentation. Read moreI finally caught them open, and it was definitely worth the wait! I ordered doubles, chicken curry with extra gravy, beef patties, rice & peas, and sorrel—all absolutely delicious. The flavors were spot on, and everything tasted fresh and authentic. I personally prefer the cabbage cooked down a little more, but that’s an easy fix and didn’t take away from the meal.
The owners and staff were so friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. This place is truly a hidden gem, and I’ll definitely be back....
