Ordered both a New York style pizza and a Chicago style pizza. Both were not to style and didn't taste very good. The NY style pizza was not pliable at all. It was basically a brittle hand tossed pizza with a bottom crust significantly thicker than any NY style pizza I've ever had. The Chicago Style pizza was even worse. Their idea of Chicago style was simply adding more cheese and using chunky tomato sauce. The kicker was that the sauce was under the cheese, instead of on top, like a normal Chicago style pizza, and the whole topping portion slid around on these excess ingredients and fell apart miserably while trying to eat it, as the bottom crust became so soggy it could not maintain any integrity. I really, really wish I could've taken pictures of the pizzas to show a comparison between them and properly styled pizzas, because my descriptions do not do it justice. This place advertises 2 styles of pizza, and they are simply so off base of what the styles are that it's laughable. The prices are also astronomical for what you are getting. Our bill was $66 for the two pizzas and a lasagna. The pizzas, style aside, did not even taste good. This is the absolute bottom of gourmet pizza. This is only the 2nd Google review I've ever written, but I just had to get this out there. The high...
Read moreWe love and enjoy the original Star Pizza so we were excited to know they opened a Katy location some time ago. The wings are very good. The pizza is unfortunately hit or miss. I've noticed a great difference when you're eating in versus delivery. It's clearly not the same. It seems every time I order delivery there's usually something with the order. Only a few times the pizza was good and to order but the other times the pizza is soggy. Yesterday the husband was craving Star Pizza. I ordered at 4:44pm, 1 large pepperoni and wings... nothing crazy. Received my receipt with estimated delivery 5:47pm. At 6:07pm called to make sure order was out. They told me it was on the road. Grant it I understand it was an "estimated time." I figured let me give them another 10 minutes... nothing. By 6:27pm I called to cancel the pizza order and by 6:38 pm the doorbell finally rings with the order. We kindly advised the delivery person that the order was canceled. By this time we went to order pizza at another loved location and took less than 20 minutes to order and receive the hot and fresh pizza. I thought long where the days of waiting for hour long pizza delivery but guess I was wrong. Can't say I will order again. Will prefer the original Star over the Katy Star...
Read moreOkay so updated my review. They had a rough time opening but are now back in gear. Have updated my rating to 4 stars. Only reason it is not 5 is because it still takes a long time if ordering take out. But It’s starting to look like the star pizza Ive known all my life. So happy to have one here in Katy! Good job guys! 4/15/2019 ——————————————————-
Too bad. Maybe it’s because they just opened, but I ordered pizza for take out. When I arrived they were scrambling so I sat down as they were looking for my order. Turns out they never started making the pizza, salad and calzone I ordered. they didn’t start making the pizza until I arrived!! But I wouldn’t have known unless I stopped to ask sometime later. No apologies nor did they try to make right. I would’ve been more understanding if he had apologized or offered a free appetizer, something to show they cared or were sympathetic to my inconvenience. So needless to say I had to leave empty handed and kids hungry.
If you are having a “soft open”, don’t expect folks to pay full price for sub-par service and quality. $50+ is a lot and should come with some level of service. Else we can order pizza from the chains.
And I love Star Pizza ——...
