Second update: I finally heard back from Nahoa at Holey Grail and they refunded my the money. I really appreciate you guys taking care of this, even if it was 3 weeks after the fact :) UPDATE: never order online. They literally stole my money and I got no donuts. I’ve tried calling and leaving messages, messaging through social media, emailing and sending messages through their website. Zero response 10 days later and the charges went through on my card. First of all, these donuts are insanely good. And fried in coconut oil- what could be better?! We ate donuts twice in Hanalei, and stopped at 10:40 am on Sunday jn Kapa’a to get more. Handwritten sign on the truck says they close at 12(instead of 4) I order online (and pay)and have a 11:02 pickup- no problem. But when I go back to get my donuts, the shop is closed and someone had crossed off the ‘12pm closed’ and changed it to 10:30. I was very upset that online ordering was still turned on, and they retroactively closed up shop 🤷🏼♀️No email or message so I just sat there waiting (and knocked on the truck door several times) but nada. I had better get my...
Read moreAs someone who can no longer consume dairy without severe consequences, I've all but written off most desserts so it's no surprise that I saw this place and didn't even give it a second look. Sure enough there's a shaved ice place next to it I thought would fit my bill but EVERY flavor has milk in it (facepalm). So thinking I'd just get a coffee or something, back to the donut stand I go. Sheepishly, as if I already know the answer, I ask "Do you have anything without any dairy in it?" The response, "Yes, everything we offer is plant based." EVERYTHING??? The Holy Grail indeed... I didn't even want donuts but out of principal I bought the 4-donut taster and a Chai. These donuts are made to order. They were light, still piping hot and flavorful. I could have cried. It's such a bummer going out because nearly every amazing pastry out there is chalk full of milk and butter. To have something that good that isn't an afterthought but a the core philosophy of the business and it beats the pants off normal donuts in the flavor and how you feel after you eat them? Thank you!!! How can I franchise...
Read moreHoley Grail is a Hawaii-inspired donut shop serving vegan donuts made with taro flour and fried in coconut oil. The unique texture and fun glaze options make them a must-try in Kauai. The elegant packaging and thoughtful concept really stood out—something rare on the island. While the Oahu location shares the story behind the donuts, I noticed this Kauai spot doesn’t, which is a bit of a shame—so I wanted to highlight it here!
That said, I do want to be honest: there was a noticeable old oil smell at this location. I saw others mention it too. I hate to complain, but this kind of issue affects health and the overall experience. No matter how great the ingredients are, frying in old oil isn’t something I can overlook. I truly hope they...
