Jojo's Shave Ice — Restaurant in Kauai

Heard great thing about Jojo's and it was really great! However, their ice and syrups remind me more of snow cones than bingsu or shaved snow - crunchy, solidifies together, all the syrup runs to the bottom. This kind of ice immediately melted and caved in (as seen in the photos) right after it was handed to us. By the end some of the ice had formed into a solid block of ice which some people like but not me. I prefer when the ice is more like snow and becomes creamy with the syrup sitting on top. For this reason, the ice consistency at Wailua is better. Also, the syrups at Wailua are more natural with no artifical flavoring but that's more personal preference. The amount of ice is a good portion and the flavor combos are good too! I wish there was more condensed milk on the snowcap, and wish they had haupia foam too. Overall a cool experience and good for those who like ice, but I prefer Wailua and overall...

JoJo's Shave ice is a happening spot for good reason. The shave ice is great and they have plenty of options. The area has a cool vibe and JoJo's has friendly service.

We ordered the Locals South Shore (pineapple and coconut with macadamia nut ice cream & haupia cream topping) and a Lilo and Stitch (blue and red raspberry with vanilla ice cream). We found a shady spot and enjoyed this stop very much.

Other things to note: this place is popular, but worth it - there may be a line. This is not the first shave ice you get to when you arrive in Hanalei. We went to the other one first, but they closed in our face while we were in line and were not very nice about it. Next time, we will drive straight past it to JoJo's. There is a small parking lot behind the market and you may be lucky to find a space there. The bathrooms are a short walk away so you can wash your hands...

So the manager listen to me and refunded me so let start that she made it right. However, the two boys there were awful. The long hair surfer guy taking my order was more interested at tipping out for the day than listening to my order. I waited for 30 minutes to even place an order. The other guy with frizzy hair was too busy goofing off and taking forever. People left the line tired of waiting. When I got my order, it was plain. There is no white stuff on top and no ice cream. Then when the guy with frizzy hair argued with me, saying I ordered it plain. I pointed at the sign. I ordered just as it it was described. Came all the way from Arizona for this horrible treatment...
