Pink's Ice Cream Shop — Restaurant in Kauai

Disappointing service, ok ice cream.

Perhaps we stopped by on an off day, but after waiting in line outside to order, we weren't greeted with a smile, a hi or a welcome when we entered the shop. The young red headed lady behind the counter just stared at us. We visited several ice cream and shave ice places on the island and no matter how long we waited in line and how busy they were, every other shop took the time to smile and say hello. Doesn't seem like an unreasonable request to be greeted with a smile. When I asked her if she just wasn't happy to see us or too busy to say hello, she still really didn't respond to us. She started to serve us and someone from the back came out and finished our order. The second person was very nice- smiling and pleasant - as an ice cream shop should be.

The ice cream was amazing and the service of the employee working front of the house was amazing. He was very polite and kind and kept a level head despite how busy it was and some confusion with the orders and did really well. The reason I left a one star for the atmosphere is because the person who was cooking in the back of the house continuously kept snapping at him and making snide remarks at him for making an honest mistake when accidentally mixing up the orders. She berated him in front of customers and continuously kept leaving negative remarks at him that I could visibly see him trying to not let them get to him. It not only created an uncomfortable and tense atmosphere for him but the customers who witnessed it. She should apologize to him for her embarrassing and...

I love the Oreo and cherry truffle flavors here. The waffle cones are also spot on. I suggest sampling the chocolate before ordering it or a shake. The flavor isn’t my style, but my companion said it was “just okay”. The mainlander is also just okay and nothing special so if you’re ordering food you may want to go adventurous and order the pork and pineapple grilled cheese. It’s tough to swallow a $10 plain grilled cheese that I could best in three minutes at home. Also, the service can be slow and backed up which is forgivable. The girl who served me was “the only one who showed up for work” and sighed and seemed displeased that we ordered despite our reassurance that time was not an issue.
