My husband and I both agreed that this was our least favorite breakfast (maybe even meal in general) in the last week on the island. The French Toast breakfast sandwich didn't live up to the previous good reviews. The problem was the french toast, it just wasn't good at all. It was lacking the slightly crisp edges and flavor of good quality french toast. The texture was just off. I've had better microwave french toast, unfortunately. I know it was made from scratch and I appreciate the effort, but it wasn't the quality we expected for the price. Neither of us liked the sausage and actually pulled it off the sandwich and left it untouched. We're from NC, so we know good sausage since it's made locally everywhere in NC, and this wasn't it. It seems as though they have other specialities that are indeed worth the price, like eggs benedict, which we don't eat. $15 for a mediocre breakfast sandwich was a bit much compared to prices for similar or better items at other island eateries we've had this week. I was willing to pay that much though with the assumption it was worth the price since it was unique. I'd avoid this item on the menu and go for something else though.
3 stars because the owner(s) was friendly and maybe they were just having an off day with the french toast. And because the presentation was pretty.
Oh and avoid sitting at the picnic tables if chickens are around. They were stealing people's meals off their plates and there are signs up warning of this (which is why you should not be one of those people who feed wildlife! It leads to these...
Read moreThe first day we dropped by Saenz, they were all out of the eggs Benedict by the time we arrived at 10am to order breakfast. There was a line that took about 10-15 minutes to place our order and 25 minutes to get our food. They had tables and a canopy outside for you to enjoy your meal or wait for your food. There is parking available and we didn’t have any problems getting a parking spot both times we came.
The pancakes are humongous! We ordered the pancake sandwich just to get some protein since no modifications are allowed. We took the sandwich apart when we ate it. Share the pancakes. My son had one out of the two pancakes and he still had to eat it over two meals.
We ordered 3 burritos: the Juan, Noelle and the Local. There is no flavor to the burrito unless you add the sauce, which you can select between their garlic aioli or salsa verde. Of the two, you MUST get the garlic aioli. This is their homemade sauce and is delicious. The salsa verde has a slight kick to it. We didn’t think the burritos were anything that will stop you in your tracks.
Despite this, we had to go back and try their eggs benedict. So, on our second trip, we arrived 10 minutes earlier at 9:50am and we scored! We got one with Kalua and one with steak. OMG, they were as good as other rave reviews...
Read moreAmazing food cart for breakfast and brunch. Kauai has some great places. But this has at least tied or passed my favorite places.
They are located about 5 minutes from all the Princeville resorts and houses. Easy to get to.
My wife and I both got Benedicta I had the Kalua pig Benedict. In the top 2 or 3 of all time. (Equal or better than button up cafe on oahu.) Seems like they use a homemade biscuit instead of an English muffin. Whatever it was- Amazing. I could not suggest anything to improve it. So good!
My wife had a ham Benedict. A thick cit piece of ham. She loved it. We both tried the other, and we both liked the one we ordered best.
I'll give them props- so many places skimp on the hollandaise sauce. They do not! So good- I know I'm repeating myself. Just phenomenal.
Had a cup of coffee while waiting- a really good cup of joe too. Nice dark roast with Mac nut creamer.
If your on the island- this place is worth the drive from...
