Shaka Burgers Hawaii — Restaurant in Kauai

Drove down from Princeville to checkout the food here and grab some sushi next door. We got the Yakuza & Hawaii 5-0 burgers. When we ordered, they said they cook their patties medium and I thought, “here we go again, someone says they cook it medium but it will come out well done”. To my surprise the Hawaii 5-0 patty was cooked perfectly—just as advertised. The flavors were delicious, with a great burger-to-bun ratio. The Yakuza was VERY flavorful; the grilled and fried onions really bring it together. The fries were good, too. If I were to change one thing it would be to have a full patty on the Yakuza, as was on the 5-0. Single thin patties don’t have the opportunity for that delicious medium cooked kick. A tangy catsup or something for the fries would be fire. All in all, solid spot. Would get it again next time...

I honestly wasn’t expecting much from this place as another Kauai burger place touted the same “100% Kauai grass fed beef” only to be disappointed by seeing a frozen puck thrown on the grill. Shaka Burgers hand forms their fresh “100% Kauai grass fed” burgers thicc- yep 2 c’s! I ordered the Shaka burger and it came with the bacon jam which didn’t disappoint. The burger hit the spot especially with their Shaka sauce on the fries as well as the burger. I also tried my wife’s order the SBC which had bacon on it and didn’t disappoint. Her’s was the same hand formed thicc burger and delicious Hawaiian twist to it as my SBC. We were nearing the end of our weeklong trip and were looking for a place to eat but had gotten tired of our usual places. We drove past Shaka Burger and on a whim decided to give it a try. We each got the shaka burger and shaka (garlic) fries and it was legitimately, literally, honestly, no lie, one of the best burgers I’ve had in years! My wife isn’t even into burgers and even she loved it. We even contemplated getting an order of shaka fries to go.

Wish we would have found this place earlier so we could have gone back a few times. Prices and portions were typical for the island and service was top notch. It’s now on our list of recommendations for family and friends visiting the island. Highly...
