I used to go here all the time but yesterday’s experience really changed my mind on that. My girlfriend had called in an order in the morning for 3 steak chimichangas for her, me and my co worker. She picked up the food and was already just about to my job site when we get a call from the restaurant saying that they gave us the wrong order and that she has to go back and pick up the correct one, but my co worker and I had to get going and couldn’t afford to wait for her to go back and we decided to just eat the breakfast burritos instead. I made sure to call el ray and make sure that it was ok if I just swapped out 2 of the breakfast burritos for the chimichangas and my girlfriend would go trade out her breakfast burrito for the chimichanga and they said it was fine. They ended up charging her for the 3 burritos and the chimichangas even though it was their mistake. It was $120 and They didn’t ask if they could charge her card, they just charged it before she even got there. Read moreThis is HANDS DOWN the MOST amazing spot in the area and top for the island. Service was prompt and the owners are super sweet.
Quesabirria (comes in three)- 5/5 I slathered and dunked a crisp, fully-packed quesabirria taco into the rich savory consomé. Could not get enough of it. Happy to say that I devoured all three tacos within minutes
Al pastor taco- 5/5 Loved the juiciness of each bite and how loaded the taco was. Grilled pineapples were a perfect sweet addition.
Diablo ceviche-4/5 Fresh, lemony and refreshing. Came with a big plate of chips and I had a great time snacking on it. It definitely has a spicy kick to it, so be aware.
The establishment also had great music from the Gypsy kings; great vibe. Big portions, big smiles. Get a...
Read more10/10 New gem on the island. My BF and I arrived a few minutes before what I thought was closing and ordered food to go. The owner was willing to seat us and even took orders from others after we left. Super nice guy. I got the Cali Burrito and my BF ordered fish and pastor tacos. California Bay Area girl at heart but living in Texas, I haven't had a California Burrito this good since I left the sunshine state. SO delicious! We meant to order the fried fish Baja tacos but got the grilled instead. That was our error. My bf still really enjoyed them. If you're looking for bomb and affordable (by Kauai standards) Mexican food, do not sleep on El Rey. It's a must...
