I only recently discovered this place in the past year, and can't believe what I'd been missing. Despite the name, I consider this more of a Greek restaurant that serves chicken, rather than a Chicken restaurant that serves greek.
I've been here a dozen times since I found it, and have been impressed every single time. It's sorta a hole-in-the-wall (dated feeling, but not dirty in any way), but as is typical of hole-in-the-walls, the food is FANTASTIC. The Chicken Souvlaki is my go-to, but everything I've tried has been excellent. The meat is flavorful and juicy, and always cooked to perfection. Everything is well seasoned, even the rice. The salad is simple, but delicious. The portion sizes are perfect - I never have leftovers, but I also always leave feeling satisfied.
I get the impression that this is a family-run restaurant. Everyone here is very friendly, and takes pride in what they do. I feel welcome from the moment I walk in the door. After ordering at the counter, I take a seat, and they bring the food out within about 5 minutes. There are no trash cans - you just leave the plates on the table and they clean up after you leave. Unlike some places with this kind of policy, they are very quick with cleaning up the tables after a customer leaves because I never see tables left with empty plates on them when I walk in.
This is an easy place to rate 5 stars. Locally run restaurants such as this one are becoming harder to find, as more and more national chains continue to move in. I know restaurants in general have been feeling the pressure of the economy lately, with Annie's Cafe just around the corner from here recently closing their doors for good. I hope places like this can stick through the tough times, because they're truly...

👎👎The only thing I didn't like was having to pay a forced 4% transaction fee for using a credit or debit card. I think it should be all encompassed into the price point vs having to pay more if you don't have cash. Almost just like a forced tip so to speak before you even try your food. Not that big of deal just my opinion I wanted to share. 😉 But Maravel was great and friendly. They do have a free drink on Mondays if that is your thing. 👍 (that was also a surprise in not in a bad way) 😂 👍
Only other miss was that it was 83 degrees inside on a 62 degree day. They had a guy here working on swamp coolers but was unable to resolve at the time he was telling staff. I opened their side door and created a...
Read moreAverage Greek fare for above average prices. I ordered the Greek combo and a drink. The total came to $17 plus a baklava at the end of the meal to round it up to $20. They were out of pork so I had a plate with 2 chicken souvlaki skewers, gyro meat, spiced potatoes, and a salad also 2 small pita pieces.. Although the food was fairly well prepared and flavored as expected the side and salad portions were meager and underwhelming.. I imagine if there were more actual Greek options within 10 or 15 miles than they may have better portions and prices but they are clearly taking advantage of the captive clientele they have been n the area.. Similar places in Salt Lake have better portions and better food for a bit less.. I won't...
