This place has good reviews largely because they sell to missionaries before they go on their mission and said missionaries don't leave reviews. Their salesmen are charismatic and collect good reviews; however, the actual product is lackluster at best. All of their clients then leave for 2 years, finally use the products they bought, and just forget to leave a review or feel that it has been too long to do so. I would not recommend these products to anyone under any circumstances.
All of the gear I got from this store largely fell apart within the first 6 months of my mission. I got stuff from the clearance rack of JCPenney's that outlasted what they sold me.
I grabbed a pair of slacks from the rack only to be told by the owner that the pair I grabbed was unavailable and would not be for over a month.
You will be upselled on an incredible amount of items that you either don't need or would be impractical on your mission. I was dissuaded heavily from buying any other product because they feature small inconspicuous logos (That doesn't matter). They tried to sell me suits for a mission that was on the equator. It never drops below 90 degrees in that mission. They don't even recommend long sleeves because of the heat and high humidity. I told them this and they proceeded to insist that I would want one (I would not).
Here is what I would do: -Get shoes from Ecco. -Get merino wool socks that are temperature regulating and moisture wicking. -Get slacks from almost anywhere that isn't awful. -Get any white shirt that fits you properly. The double seam on the side that they sell you on doesn't do much at all. I had plenty of single seamed shirts that lasted ages of abuse. -Get ties from DI or other thrift store, especially if you're serving 3rd world. Dirt color is ideal for those. Avoid light colored ties that would show dirt easily.
I found that the owner and salesmen claim to know a lot about how their products perform in the mission field compared to others comparable products, but they simply don't have the market research to support those claims. They would be needing to send surveys to mission presidents and missionaries halfway through...
Read moreI have been a customer of The Missionary Store/Holmes Clothing on Washington BLVD, Ogden since early 2011. I was always impressed by the care and knowledge of the staff until about 6 months ago. I went in for a few pairs of slacks and didn't get the service or quality I had grown accustomed to. I decided to try the Kaysville store and was extremely pleased to find the gentleman, Kirk and Wyatt, that helped me get ready for my mission back in 2011. They had just bought out the Kaysville store and changed the name to 2BY2 Missionary Gear. Needing a new suit for a wedding, I went straight to Kirk and was not disappointed. He got me in a custom suit that looks and feels amazing. I could not be happier with my experience. Thank you Kirk and Wyatt for bringing that kind of custom experience and level of quality at an...
Read moreWe have triplets serving missions and we purchased a large amount of our necessities from this store. They have amazing products and a knowledgeable staff. The quality of their products are far above the competitions. Their service is outstanding! They know what your missionary's needs will be. My sons love their shoes! I have a missionary in the Philippines and his shoes are holding up great! My husband loves the shirts. They have a thicker material unlike other brands that are so see through and do not hold up to the washings. They also have the convertible cuff for cuff links. All of the males in our family LOVE the suits! I have even washed one in a washer, air dried and steamed and it came out looking...
