Pollo Dorado — Restaurant in Kearny

We just had an incredible meal at Pollo Dorado and I honestly can’t stop thinking about it! Every single dish was packed with flavor and clearly made with care.

We ordered the pernil, steak with onions, empanadas, and chicken soup — and each one was a standout. The pernil was unbelievably tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. You could taste the hours it must have been marinating and roasting. The steak and onions were cooked to perfection — savory, well-seasoned, and the onions were caramelized just right, bringing out even more flavor in every bite.

The empanadas were golden and crispy on the outside, with delicious, well-seasoned fillings that were piping hot and satisfying. And don’t even get me started on the chicken soup — it was rich, comforting, and full of homemade goodness. The kind of soup that warms your soul.

The portions were generous, the service was fast and friendly, and the food was just out of this world. Whether you’re craving something comforting or something hearty, Pollo Dorado delivers every time.

Update 4/14/2025- the owner of the restaurant called me directly and apologized for how the orders were handled. I appreciate the professionalism from her. And understand it is hard to control how your employees treat customers.

We order from Pollo Dorado every few weeks because the food is consistently good—that’s what keeps us coming back. Unfortunately, the service hasn’t been as reliable.

On multiple occasions, they’ve forgotten to include the sauces and beans we specifically requested. I even tried calling in the order, and was told to place it online instead and to make the requests there. I followed those instructions, but the same items were missing again. When I called to let them know, I was told I should have added the request in the notes section—despite having already selected those options.

It’s disappointing to spend over $100 on a meal and have basic items missing, especially when they’ve been requested more than once. Great food, but the lack of attention to detail in service makes the experience...

Decided on ordering out food,yesterday 6/6/25,this was the second time ordering from this establishment and might be the last for several reasons. 1. THE STEAK AND ONIONS was too hard, just like 1st. Time we ordered (people, please tenderize it by slow cooking or pounding it) is it that hard to do. Payed $18.95 for half chicken with French fries 🍟 not even a whole chicken,but was delicious (they're known for the tasty chicken). VERY PRICEY. 3. The beans 🫘 were cooked well but needed more flavor or seasoning (BUT OK). THE MOFONGO WITH PORK delicious and side of garlic sauce. The other sides like white rice,yuca fries,French fries, and salad were decent, There is nothing special, nice portion of sides.
