The biggest take away from dining at Bottle Cap Alley Icehouse Grill is the "Icehouse" part. This is essentially a bar with a restaurant built around it. The experience was nice. It certainly had the Texas middle class sports bar vibe and executed it nicely. Ambiance is as expected. Music, loud talking, laughing drinking and having a great time! There were plenty of TVs showing a myriad of different sports and events to entertain everyone. The bar is very well appointed with several local and national beers on tap, and the staff were pleasant and accommodating.
The food seemed to be your typical Icehouse bar fare. The prices didn't exactly scream "great value", but they weren't ridiculous... unless you ordered one of their wonderful hotdogs. The menu shown here on Zomato is old and inaccurate. Lets break this down. I ordered the "Bacon Dog" The dog was a delicious Kosher all beef frank topped with sauteed onions, spicy mustard, and what was essentially fresh home made bacon bits. This was all delivered on what I would have to describe as a Texas toast bun. When the menu specifically says "Big Dogs", one might expect something... well big. Unfortunately not here. The over all package was really no bigger than an average "ball park" frank, and at $4.20 (no sides) it was actually very disappointing. The rest of the party ordered burgers and a BLT and were very happy with their choices and the burgers were praised. We also ordered the loaded Bacon Cheese fries. Delivered as advertised.
There was good side to getting an unfortunately small Hotdog. It prompted me to go back and order more food. I was able to indulge in their $8 loaded Frito pie! Talk about a kick! I know its a simple food, but it was delicious! Fritos, yea. Onions, of course. Cheese and jalapenos, check and check. It was their MEATY perfectly spiced home made in house chili that set it off. I unfortunately ate the whole bowl... after the hot dog... by myself! I enjoyed every bite!
This is a great place to get a great an ice cold beer, enjoy the sports, pool table, music and traditional bar fare. I...
Read moreWe ordered take out Texas Melt which is shown before and after I replaced the Texas Toast with a burger bun of my own because it was literally too greasy to eat. In addition to the Texas Toast being greasy this sandwich was thrown together as half the ingredients were half off the bun and the melted cheese had it stuck to the paper lining the container. Then, the "Old Town Fries" save your money here as well. They were initially left off the order all together but my husband checked it and discovered they were left off and asked for them since we paid for them, even as the employee argued that it was not ordered, it was. They proceeded to make a blob of soggy fries encased in a melted inferno of cheese goop. You almost needed a jackhammer to get them out of the container. Good grief, leave some of the fries visible so you know where to start man. Husband ordered the Avocado burger and upgraded from a 1/4 pounder to 1/2 pounder, greasy, definitely not cooked to med-rare, none of the burgers were, not even the dogs! My container was so greasy that even after I threw out the Texas Toast and laid the patties down on my bun from my pantry, my bun got greasy too! Shhhish! Overall a huge disappointment for a $30 bill. Save yourself the bill and go to Whataburger, you get what you pay for there, here...not a chance. Oh! One last thing, this was on a Sunday afternoon and there were maybe 5 people in the place, none of which were eating, just drinking beer watching a game. So, it was not at all busy. No excuses. Laziness? That's what I think when you don't have enough pride in what you are doing that you turn out product such as this.

Read moreThe parking lot and access are torn up due to road construction in the area. Not their fault BUT there were only 20 people in the restaurant so the service could have been better in terms of tables being cleared, floor swept, rolls of paper towels being full, ketchup bottles being full, etc. Clearly a manager was out or just doesn't care. Idle hands in a restaurant ... never!
I will echo some of the reviews with the burgers being quick to come out. It's as if the patties are already cooked. I know mine was because it was dry and tasteless. The others in our party (four in total) had similar complaints. We had the BOGO coupon so it wasn't a total bust however if I had paid full price I wouldn't have been so agreeable with my food (read you get what you pay for!). Perhaps this is a sign that the restaurant knows they have poor quality OR making up for the road work and need to get people into the restaurant? Either way I won't be going back.
We had the triple dip chips as an appetizer. It's tortilla chips with salsa, guacamole and queso blanco. It was OK but the salsa was ICE cold, the guacamole was flavorless although the queso was GREAT! Should have known not to get chips and dip from a burger place.
I did have the onion rings which on the menu showed as beer battered. Really? Because they looked too uniform to be a beer battered product. Maybe beer battered was indicated on the bag that they poured them from...definitely not what I expected which was a handmade on site, hand beer battered onion ring. The rings were greasy but HOT as h*ll. The fries were greasy too. They weren't hot but just a...
